This is gorgeous! I don't think I could do it (no matter how 'easy' it is), but I love looking at it and would likely love eating it :)
ooo, i love and totally want to try! I might just do the icing on a simpler cake, though.
@cirrus: thanks ;) I made them for a family reunion with some other cupcakes and they were all a big hit.
That is so pretty, I've done the cupcakes but never a cake... hmmm I think I'm gonna try that this weekend.
OK that is amazing - love it!!
Think I am going to make some of my special lemon cupcakes this weekend and frost them this way!!
@CorgiTales: Those are simply fabulous!!!!
@cirrus: Great share!!!
I make a cake using the same tutorial! I just didn't have as big of an icing tip as I would have liked. It was not hard at all, and looked awesome!
@Miss Joker: one little thing that I figured out that really helped was to make sure that each circle of frosting partially covered the last one. That really seemed to plump up the rose effect :) I actually didn't have the right tip either but I saw what I was supposed to have and bent out one of the other tips with a pen lol. lazy ftw.
@CorgiTales: Uber cute cupcakes, looks delish!
I saw that pic posted for a day or two ago, and now, I bookmarked the post. This will def be our wedding cake, but I think I will try to do it multilayer, as in three or four tiers. Or make different small cakes with different flavours.
@Elolith: I agree! I want to have four tiers with alternate rose layers. It will look fab and delicious :-)
OOOooooohhh! I just found my bridal shower cake!!!! I think I'll try making it a'fore hand, and maybe try making some complementing cupcakes. Ya know, sporaticly stuck rose leaves would add a lovely dash of colour and abstractness! Thanks for sharing this, it's a gem!
I tried to make this and it failed miserably!! I used the tip she suggested and it just looked like swirled icing - not roses. :( I am pretty bad at artistic things though,so it could just be me
Agghhh I'm so glad I found this thread and that real bees have made this cake and made it look GOOD! This is what we're doing for our wedding cake (assuming everything goes as planned). Does anyone have suggestions for making it 2 tiered?
I actually made this for my wedding cake :)
@redheadem: I went to hobby lobby and got a deep 8" round cake pan. I doubled my cake mix and made two layers in this pan, filled the layers, then added a crumb coat before icing the roses.
So excited... my neighbor (who used to be a pro cake baker) is making this cake with three tiers for our wedding!!

I just saw this tutorial for an easy to decorate rose cake. It looks very soft and pretty and seems quite simple to do. I know I will be giving it a try some time soon.
