I haven't heard much about Ross Simons, but I have heard some raving reviews for James Allen. :) They have a wide selection of gorgeous bands on their online store. Btw, I totally share your concern about shopping online. But as long as they have a good return policy (i.e they accept credit card purchases which means you can cancel the purchase if there is something horribly wrong with your ring) you and your partner should be safe. I've bought a bunch of stuff from RS both online and in store, and think the quality is good. My ring is not from there so I don't have any insight into their diamond rings, but I've bought plenty of other stuff and liked it.
Thanks for the suggestion about James Allen, it looks like nice stuff but I don't think we will go online. Shanbrice, yay I'm glad you have gotten good things from Ross Simons. I am so hoping to get good feedback cause I just love the way this ring feels. I don't know why, but I just want it. 
I've bought lots of jewelry, though no diamonds, from Ross-Simons. I highly recommend them.
I love Ross Simons. My dad will not buy jewelry anywhere else, usually. They have great customer service and nice insider deals. I say go for it!

They have some Ross Simons retails stores near where I grew up in Rhode Island. I never purchased anything there, but my mom shopped there occasionally. The quality seemed like it was really nice stuff, so I wouldn't worry about that aspect. We always had the catalogs around my house and the stuff is gorgeous.
I've bought things for myself or for gifts from Ross Simons and the quality is pretty good. I've never bought a diamond there though. I'm not sure they will custom make anything though, it is more like a chain store with a fixed inventory I think. I would think you'd be able to find that style ring or have it made in any independent jeweler close to you. I know I have seen it in stores. Good luck in your search!
My husband got my engagement ring from them and we're both very happy with it. But the PP who said they probably won't custom make anything is right I think- we didn't like the matching wedding band for the ring and they wouldn't help us beyond shrugging and showing us different rings to try on with the ering. And their selection is much much better online than in-store, at least in our area. But as far as quality etc goes, no complaints for sure! The diamonds, including the center diamond, are of good quality- but I think he bought it online. If it helps, we bought a wedding band from them online and returned it with no problems (didn't like it, no other reason).
Yay, I'm glad to hear people have had good experiences with them. I don't think they custom make settings, but since its their setting I love they said they could order it with different quality diamonds.
Do not but from ross simion Ibrought themost beautifull ring 2 weeks latter a diamond came loose and I sent it back its been 9 weeks! Every week I call and get a different answer when it will be returned at this point irather have my money back to find something different. They said no because its been passed 30 days well yes since they have had it for way past 30.
Please do buy from them I am with out over a thousand dollars and no ring!

Has anyone bought a ring at/heard anything about Ross Simons. I love this band:

although I would probably get them to make it in platinum with higher quality stones. I have tried tons of other five stone rings, but keep coming back to this ring. I went on pricescope and they were very anti ross simons because they usually carry I2 diamonds and suggested I buy online. We are definitely not comfortable buying online, so I'm hoping that if I order it with better stones the ring it will be nice. Thanks!
