Hi Martena,
You should repost this in the local boards. There is Hudson Valley board where people have been so helpful and will have more experience with Round Hill. Round Hill is really nice, but definitely not a traditional venue. It is really just up to you! But mosey on over to the Hudson Valley board and I am sure you will find more help for other location ideas.
Hi Martena,
I am getting married in May of 2010 at Catlin Gardens in Slate Hill, NY which is only about a 10 to 15 minute drive from Round Hill. THe landscape is amazing - they have 5 acres of gardens and a beautiful outdoor ceremony & cocktail hour area.
We also looked at Round Hill but liked the layout and grounds at Catlin Gardens a bit better. And the reception area isn't super formal or banquet-hall like at all which is something we also really liked about Catlin Gardens.
The one thing we did want was over-night accommodations on-site and currently Catlin Gardens does not provide that. However, they are in the process of building an on-site luxury in which might be ready by October of next year. We sacrificed the overnight accommodations because they gave us a great per head deal for a Saturday night wedding.
A friend of mine just recently got married at the Belvedere Mansion in Rhinebeck, NY, which is a bit further north of NYC but has ammmmazing views of the Hudson River and the mansion itself is definitely what you described wanting in your 1) description above, although I am not sure if there is additional fees for the ceremony.
This is a great site to just go through a bunch of Hudson Valley reception locations:

Hope this helps!! :)

Hello!
I just got engaged and trying to lock in that perfect venue. I live in Florida but definitely want to get married back 'home' in NY. We were thinking of Autumn 2010 (ideally in October). After visiting countless sites, I landed on the Round Hill web site which ignited that spark in me. I want to hear stories (positive and negative) from all that have married or planning to marry there. I have checked other threads on it but found nothing specific on it. Also interested to hear about other nearby locations. I am looking for the following:
1. charming cottage/house/manor with a rustic/eclectic/chic look, lush landscape/view, no site fee/catering included
2. within an hour and half max from NYC
3. no hall/banquet formal rooms
4. also where could I go to take pictures nearby with rows of tall trees/forest looking road
Anything you can send me would be great! Sorry if this is a long message - after all, I am new at this ;)
