I have cushion cut and I love it… but it does face up smaller than a round brilliant, while cushions sparkle and have plent of fire, nothing is as brilliant as a round brilliant, having said that, I love my cushion cut and wouldnt trade it for the world, no two are alike.  mine is 1.01 carats on a size 9.5 finger

I love cushions!!! I have an heirloom round but chose 4 prongs to make it more cushion-y 🙂

CUSHION all the way! They will face up smaller than a round usually, BUT IMO all rounds look pretty much the same as long as they’re cut well. I’d never be able to tell one round cut from another given they were the same cut/color/clarity etc..there’s nothing special about them to me. Cushions come in SO many different facet patterns and they have such a romantic sparkle to them if you find a great one. I wanted an elongated or rectangular cushion-here she is 🙂

I love my round with halo. It’s in the box the way he presented it. I love the paves too. I feel it accentuates the round. It was an upgrade for our 10th.

Round! Faces up larger, sparkly, and if you love the cushion shape, you can get a cushion halo.

I had this exact delimma when i was picking my ering!

at first i had my heart set on a 1ct cushion. and then my friend (she’s a jeweler) said that round diamonds have more sparkle because of the way they’re cut.

So i switched to a 0.8ct round. a 0.8 round faces up the same size as a 1ct cushion.

and boy, does my round sparkle like crazy all the time and im so happy i decided on a round instead of a cushion!

I prefer the unique look of cushions but rounds will face up larger. What’s the most important to you?

@ERM115:  More cushion for the pushin’! Totally irrelevant.

I love my cushion, I have moissanite, but I’d choose cushion over any shape, except for an asscher *drool*

beautiful rings ladies!

@AlwaysSunny:  true although Henri Daussi cushiions appear 10-30% larger due to his cutting method (more shallow) but are still as sparkly.

@mg1363:  good idea! nice!

@ERM115:  Either way-cushion or round diamond, don’t think you can go wrong  Both of mine are round diamonds, the most sparkly but the most common I think. My Ering/wedding ring:

right hand ring  (sometimes wear on  my left hand lol):

Cushion fan here! I have an elongated cushion. It actually faces up larger than a round of the same size. It’s by Henry Daussi who is known for their cushion cut diamonds.
