First of all I LOVE Royal Carribean. I have cruised with Princess, Royal and Carnival (6 cruises total) and Royal was by far the best! I have actually been on the Explorer of the Seas and the cabins are exactly like the updated photo. We were traveling with like 12 of my family members and all of our cabins were set up like the updated photo. And Royal Carribean has amazing room stewards so if there is ever anything that you could possibly need they are on it! Hope this helps 🙂

no offense to you by any means but if you’re in a room just to romp and sleep, and it’s not somewhere he’s going to live for the next five years who cares? it’s clean..! either way you’ll have an awesome time cruising, we went on the Norweigan Epic for 2 weeks, never cruised before, crazy fun!

@UpstateCait: No problem. I realllly didn’t like Carnival. In my opinion it was kinda bleh and I really didn’t like the food. Haha, I am very hard to please! Royal was considerably better! I’m sure you guys will have an amazing time! I really liked Bermuda as well 🙂 Definitely look into booking your shore excursions from home too, you can look up reviews on the companies that you are booking through and you get better deals than if you book on the boat 🙂

it looks like all they did was change the upholstery…how does that make a huge difference in your enjoyment of the room?

i totally understand why it matters. I’ve been on 3 cruises (heck we are getting married on one!) and you do spend time in there when you are sleeping, resting getting dressed, etc. Regardless of the length of time spent in there, you want to feel comfortable. I surely would not spent the $$ on accomodations I would not be comfortable/enjoy being in.

@UpstateCait: Thanks! We got engaged (on the same ship) September 2009 so our families could literally pay $35 towards it a month before final payment was due. Currently we have about 30 people booked with us so its going to be a blast. We all live in northern CA, and our cruise leaves out of southern CA. Its a Monday-Friday cruise, and goes to Catalina Island, where we will be married and Ensenada Mexico.

For our one year anniversary, FI has already ‘dibbed’ the caribbean. Once you come back from your honeymoon Id love to hear your recaps!

Check out cruisecritic.com. The folks on the message boards there know the ships inside and out!

We just booked an RC cruise also–and I’m not sure where you found those pics, but both of them look rather dated to me! The TVs are both tube TVs!!! And the upholstery looks very dated in both! Both FI and I are terrible hotel snobs (considering FI is a hotel manager) it’s no wonder, that our accomodations are always top notch! We are cruising at the end of the month, and I think on a different boat–but the pics were definatley more modern looking than the ones that you posted, I’ve never cruised before either, but RC came very highly recommended from friends and family if that helps at all.
