@BanditGirl: I thought that Denmark's was pretty (although a little plain) and Princess Grace is just iconic (although more conservative than I'd want). But yeah - beyond those - I thought most of those dresses fell in "The Bad", not "The Beautiful".
I think Ann looked so beautiful. I also think European royalty is just very conservative. No boob flashing there. I can appreciate the modesty. The Norwegian gowns looks so well made.
I like the Valentino gowns and of course Grace Kelly is timeless.
I like Guinevere's from the movie Camelot the best (not included above) but the only dress of the bunch I would have refused to have worn is Diana's. Her style emerged soon afterwards, but that dress she wore that day never was my taste.
Vanessa Redgrave as Guinevere.
A link to a clip of their winter wedding- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot5nnMzjSTM
I liked both the Swedish ones and the Denmark one. I think that a few of them are gorgeous, just more conservative as PP have said. They make sense for the occasion.
thanks! great link. I'm surprised how modest they all are
@FMILady: awesome! I loved this movie as a kid and this image of Guinevere

I found an article containing pictures of many of the wedding dresses of princesses and commoner-turned-princesses, with a few queens added for good measure.

"These gowns were all one-of-kind creations, and ranged from demure to over-the-top, tasteful to fanciful. As befitting a royal wedding, none were strapless or low-cut. In fact, a few had such high necklines and were so austere that they looked somewhat like nuns' habits - if it weren't for the dazzling tiaras which crowned the ensembles. Then there were a couple, such as Gloria, Princess of Thurn und Taxis, and Clotilde, Princess of Savoy, whose bridal gowns were designed to conceal their pregnancies. Definitely not nun-like."
Maybe it will serve as some dress inspiration to some of the Bees dress hunting (the beautiful examples that is)!
