Call him back and say 'bitch please, you ain't that good anyway. Give me my monies back'
Ok, so maybe that's not the best plan, but it would feel good to say.
@rubyroad10: maybe after you get the money then, *69 + number. Then he'll never know!
I think you have lots of time to find a good photographer. I saw that you are in New Orleans. I booked Maile Lani Photography and have had good interactions with her so far.
@louisianablue: Before booking this dude, I called TWELVE photographers who were all booked for my date. Must just be a popular date. Ick.
@hisgoosiegirl: LOL!!! I would totally go with that! That's just awesome.
Bah-- what a jerk! He should know better than that! What a bummer! Hope you find someone better!
@rubyroad10: Psh, he should be sending YOU a check. Why make you take the time out of your day? Rude! The only plus of going to get it is that you can give him a piece of your mind. Thankfully you do have more time to find a different photog, but sheesh, what a PITA.
@rubyroad10: Yeah I booked 13 months ahead (June wedding=popular) and my first two choices were already booked. So I don't think you're SOL, but you definitely don't have time to waste.
Whats your date and your budget? We can help you find some photographers.
I am just curious why you are the one that has to give up your day and not the other couple? I am wondering if he was able to book a higher priced gig. Hmmm.
UPDATE: I e-mailed about 7 other photographers last night (I stopped being picky about style and just went nuts, e-mailing every New Orleans-based photographer I could find) I'll be damned if not EVERY SINGLE ONE was booked on my date...except one! And his photos are nice! His website was a little cluttered and illegible, but hey, he's a photographer, not a web designer! So CRISIS AVERTED. http://www.paganiphoto.com/*wipes sweat
Thanks for everyone's help and encouragement :)
also @USER876: Photographer #1's story is that the other bride booked in August, and I booked in November. He just conveniently forgot about her/couldn't find her contract.
You are in New Orleans, right?
Check out Studio Tran! They are SO, SO good. They have I think two teams, so they might not be booked. I love everything I've seen from them!
@rubyroad10: If he couldn't remember or couldn't find the other couple's contract, I don't think you'd want him photographing your wedding anyway!! Sounds like he's not very organized or professional... maybe you dodged a bullet there!!
@simplifiedbride: Very true. The only thing that still has me a little riled up is that I had budgeted around the $400 deposit photographer #1 required. New photographer requires that 50% be put down...about $1700. Oh, and it's 19 days before Christmas. Looks like everyone's getting "creative" gifts this year...
If he's that irresponsible that he forgot he already had a booking for your date, I think you're better off without him. He's running a business, and he should be on top of things like this. Who knows what else he might mess up? I also think that he made the mistake, and he should be going out of HIS way to return your deposit, not the other way around.
@hisgoosiegirl: this hahahaha!
@rubyroad10: I am so sorry. At least he admitted his mistake and gave you your deposit back... I know it sucks but you got off better than some :) Good luck hun.
That sucks!! I'd be super pissed too! I think you should buy a bottle of wine on your way home tonight and just veg. But seriously...if this guy was that irresponsible to double-book you...then you don't want him anyway. What a jerk.
@rubyroad10: I see you're in New Orleans, but my photographer (based in Baton ROuge) will travel. She and her husband shoot as a team and I would HIGHLY recommend them! They were awesome!
Ooh, I really like that Marc Pagani's style; his portfolio is great! I agree with the other bees in that perhaps you dodged a bullet here... Your original photographer sounds unprofessional & unorganized! At least you got your money back, and maybe it's a serendipitous thing where you'll end up LOVING your wedding photos so much that you can't imagine ever having gone with anyone else!
Yeah, I REALLY lucked out! I think I lucked out of a potentially bad experience and into a good one :)

Just got a phone call nearly 3 weeks after I signed a contract with a photographer saying "Sorry, I accidentally double booked your day."
Best thing? He already cashed my deposit check so now I have to take time out of MY DAY to go to where he is to pick up my money. And I'm in a time crunch for finding a photographer.
Someone talk me down because I might egg his place.
