- Wedding: October 2014
My wedding will be on Martha’s Vineyard (an island off the coast of MA, for those unfamiliar) in October, and I’m just sending out save the dates now. I plan to send the invitations in February/March, which is pretty early, because accommodations and ferry reservations for cars book up super early. Some of our hotel blocks expire at the end of March, and others at the end of May (and most places on the island don’t provide hotel blocks).
This leaves me wondering whether to include a RSVP deadline in the invitation, and if so, when. Looking around on weddingbee, it seems the earliest deadlines are a month out. If a guest RSVPs that late, they will have difficulty finding a place to stay, and the wedding goes later than the latest ferry off the island.
I’m wondering if I should just skip the deadline, since it may be weird to have it in, say July. I know if I set it for September, and I was a guest, that I tend to procrastinate about rsvping when I know there is a deadline far away. Any thoughts on this from other bees?
