I would pick up the phone and start calling. sadly enough, some people are not as senstive to our deadlines as we would like them to be. put aside some time and a glass of wine and make a nice friendly (cough) courtesy call. Or have a family member do it for you. I am having my WP so mine since I know my family is the worst at returning these things.
Wish you the best
Delegate some calls to your family members or bridal party to help you out!
haha we sent out 47 invitations, so I would have to call 42 families! oh my gosh! I pray they come in abundance today and tomorrow!
How long ago did you send the invites? My wedding is the day after yours and we had 50 or so people (like 20 families) to track down, too. I waited until last Monday and I started calling/facebooking/emailing, and now we only have 17 unheard from.
Have your parents & your FI's parents contact their own family members to check in and see if they are coming.
We did this and we only ended up calling our own friends since our parents helped with the call load :)
we had problems with our invites, so they've only been out for a little over a week, nearly two weeks.
When our RSVP date rolled around, we still had 120 out. I say give it a few more days and then call. Some will send the RSVP on the due date and it takes a few days.
Wait until two days after deadline just in case some people mail it on the deadline date. Then designate your parents to call your family members, FI's parents to call his family members, and you/FI to call your friends.
I hope you get better response than the 2010 US census. Apparently 72% of households returned their census, and the rest will get house calls. :)
I would definitely start calling 2 days after the deadline - you need numbers!
Ugh. This just kills me. I'm no Emily Post, but when people just ignore RSVP's, it pisses me off SO MUCH.
Split up families between your family and wedding party. It'll go quicker this way.
Wow! That is crazy. I have the same deadline as you for our RSVPs and we sent out about 85 invitations. We're still missing 13 of them. Grrrrr!
I'm planning on calling/emailing/texting/Facebooking tomorrow night. I need a preliminary head count by Friday!
I would delegate out the phone calls to help you out! For example, if people on your mom's side haven't responded, ask your mom to give those people a ring. If it's your friends, then you call, etc. Good luck!
I had to call most people, FI's mother helped me call her side and I called my side, its frustrating but we gotta do it!
My rule of thumb is give people a week past the deadline.
Give them at least a five days. I'm a stickler to RSVP but I'd be annoyed if I got a call the day or two after the date.
You will get most of them after the deadline because people put them in the mail ON the deadline. Give it a few days before you start calling. Don't worry, it will work out!
People are totally holding onto ours too. I mean they're really pretty so maybe they just want to keep them? Our RSVP date passed already and we haven't even gotten 1/2 back. Pretty shabby..
I think they will taper off and we'll jsut have to get on the phone. It's unfortunate, but the only way to find out if people are coming..
Ohhhh NO that is so frustrating! I would also do what a few people suggested have ur families call to find out whats going on! My invites are going out Monday we are sending out 120....bight side...u dont have 120 to call :D
The graciousness of the RSVP has dies a painful death. I once had someone tell me they thought because I said "Please reply by..." (note I used the word PLEASE) it was optional!
@cant wait, haha, I used "Please RSVP by May 5, 2010" as well! :) that's gotta be it!
Well I got 5 more, and today was the deadline. Although most of them were from people I already knew was coming haha. No help there :P I've only gotten two of the out-of-state people replies (out of about 25)
Why not email some of them as well, it may but time instead of calling?
I think that some people put their responses in the mail the day of the deadline instead of factoring how long they will be in the mail. I would wait a day or two and start calling, because you don't want to be too insistent if they sent them back and you just haven't gotten it yet.
i am having the same problem. my deadline is tomorrow and have only received 10 back :(
oh wow! this is not making me feel better! I need to make sure people reply! As our ceremony is at the State Capitol!
Why are people so irresponsible ?
Wait a couple days then let us all know ....
@miss-spunkin
...and RSVP actually already includes "please" (répondez s'il vous plaît)! haha maybe they thought the two positives cancelled each other out?!? Seriously I never understand how so many people don't answer straight away! So rude imo.. I hope you don't have to spend hours calling people and that a few more have arrived today
I would wait to make calls until the end of the week. Sometimes people don't put cards in the mail until the day of the deadline.
Ahh I would freak out!! I wish people understood how important an rsvp is especially for a wedding!, yes I am guilty of not always rsvp'ing always for a wedding yes... but not much of anything else... I now try to be better at it. : )
I asked the best man to follow up on his side of the family, and the maid of honor to follow up with mine. I emailed anyone I had an email addy for, and had all the responses in by a month after the date.
The only difficulty was getting responses from Korea. Two invitations keep coming back with insufficient address, but at this point, I think I can assume my second cousin, or is it first cousin once removed? My mother's cousin, in any case, will not make it.

Yeah, our RSVP deadline for our wedding in less than four weeks is TOMORROW. And so far we've received 5 cards back.
should I be worried? I really don't want to have to call fifty families! I don't have the time for that.
I will wait til the end of the week to start calling, for the late ones that may be coming, but still I'm a little nervous.
