We made RSVP postcards and used 80 lb cardstock. Much heavier and they wouldn't have made it through my printer. It held up fine through the mailing process, though many times the post office added a sticker to put on the bar code since the picture side of the post card was quite dark.
You can see them in this picture.
One word of advice - make sure your make your RSVP postcards the right size! We ordered ours one half inch too small so we have to re-order all of them! The USPS is very picky about the size of postcards!

I used regular cardstock (I think 80) and then printed all the info on regular paper and pasted them together. They held up very well in the mail!

What kind of cardstock would I use to make rsvp postcards? I assume it should be pretty thick ..
