Would it be tacky if I wrote something on facebook kindly reminding people that their RSVPs are due on … date?
Example: Just a reminder to my dear family and friends, wedding RSVPs are due this Friday, thank you!

I wouldn’t say it’s tacky, but perhaps a bit impersonal, and blasting information about your wedding to people who aren’t invited. As well, I don’t think it’s cool to “remind” prior to the due date. Try to give your friends and family a little credit that they’re on top of it (although for real 1/3 of our replies were late), and then contact each person that’s tardy individually.

I don’t think anything is wrong with it as long as you private message. I plan on messaging people on FB to remind them to check out the website and the RSVP due date.
If I don’t, people won’t remmeber to do it.

I agree with both PPs. I would not do a status update, because those who aren’t invited will have a reminder of that fact and those who sent it in may be a little offended that you’d think they wouldn’t remember.
If you make it a private message, I’d do it in a general fashion like YSQueen mentioned, stating something like “please be sure to visit the website for important details, and oh, btw, RSVPs are due soon.” If it’s after the deadline, then I’d message each person individually so they can’t see the whole list of who’s tardy (or be embarrassed by people seeing that they were tardy).
