Is your RSVP deadline July 13, 2012? I would wait a week after the deadline to let any straggling responses come in (like those mailed ON your deadline) before starting to call/email guests to follow up on missing RSVPs. It’s not rude for you to follow-up with them – it was rude of them to not RSVP!

It’s not rude to check in with people as long as your RSVP deadline has passed. 🙂

I’m getting married 10.20.12 as well.  My RSVP date is 09.22.12.   I’ll contact people that next week if I haven’t gotten a response.

Make sure you set your guests RSVP date 2 weeks before you need to provide it to the venue/caterer. I would start calling or emailing immediately after the guests RSVP deadline has past. People usually aren’t rude they are more embarred that the didn’t RSVP.

I used this last weekend, and it worked fabulously (another bee had posted previously):

“Hey- Just wanted to check on your RSVP for our wedding on July 13th. We know how easy it is to let these dates get away from you, however we need to give our caterer a final number of guests. If we haven’t received your reply card by June 23rd, we’ll have to assume that you are unable to attend (which would be very sad!). Hope you’ll be able to join us on the big day. :)”

No one thought it was rude- one woman thought her SO had already mailed it, so people appreciated the nudge.

I agree with PPs.  Wait until about a week after your RSVP deadline before calling people (gives a chance for stragglers to come in).  It’s definitely not rude to call once the deadline has passed!  People understand you need numbers for your caterer and usually feel bad they haven’t responded.

Just out of curiosity, why did you send out invites so early?  And why is the RSVP date so early?

@Valentina2012:  Good lord! That’s a lot of cousins! No matter what your deadline date is, just go ahead and start calling after the deadline has passed. That won’t be considered rude at all (as long as it’s after the RSVP date)!

@Valentina2012:  Haha, it’s ok.  I just sounded like it was what you were using and I was concerned it was so early.  Also, that’s a crap-ton of cousins!
