Wow!  Your FMIL has some balls to say something like that!  I think what you are thinking of putting on the save-the-dates is a good idea.  We wrote the names of the people we are inviting on ours (hopefully they won’t write in additional names or else they’ll be hearing from us!).

People SHOULD be able to figure out that a wedding invitation is intended for those it’s specifically addressed to.  However if you anticipate it being an issue, then your wording seems fine.

Yikes. I wouldn’t want a bunch of jealous girls at my wedding whether the reception was at capacity or not! Put your foot down, and definitely use that RSVP wording!

@futurepilotswife_:  Yeah, for some of our guests, they have multiple adults and children living in the same household, so we addressed the head of the household (Mr. and Mrs. so-and-so or what-have-you) on the outer envelope, and wrote in all the names of those invited on the RSVP card.
