Ok, so here goes (the long and the short of it).

We had to invite only grandparents, some friends (their bfs or gfs/spouses), parents, and siblings because when we got to the aunts/uncles level it got out of control - fast. Inviting aunts and uncles alone it gets to about 31 extra people, but then a lot of them have young children that they will not come without, which balloons the number even further. We did invite some co-workers, the president of FI's company (who is also a friend of his), etc. Our after party location can hold up to about 56 people comfortably. The problem is this - we have a total of 42 people total including me and FI. That's 14 under total which is probably better considering we'd have more room for cake, speeches and a little dancing. The issue is that we only have 22 of 42 accepted! That's only a little more than half, and that includes our parents, the two of us, one bridesmaid +1 and the best man + 1! I feel like our wedding will be so small that we might as well elope. It'll basically be us and grandparents? I don't know. I am more than stressing about this at this point - the RSVP date is on Monday.

    ... thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Bella

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Is cost a factor? Have you put down venue deposits? Do you want to elope? All these seem to be important factors. If you want a small wedding with friends and family close by you can stick by your original plan and maybe call a few extra guests? Have you contacted the missing RSVPs to figure out what is going on? How much time do you have to make your decision?

And as I was typing this, I realized you probably didn't want a million more questions...Sorry! I was just seeking some clarity regarding your situation. Whatever you and your FI decide will be what is right for you.
