So, we had a huge storm yesterday and there are sticks and leaves down everywhere in my yard and the whole town–trees came up, we lost power, etc. So I’m out in my yard today picking up sticks and such, and the person whose backyard borders my neighbor’s yard was doing the same. She started to dump all of her leaves and branches and such into the neighbor’s yard!! Now, the trees that all of the stuff came from are in my neighbor’s yard, so maybe she felt justified in doing so, but my neighbor is at least 60 years old, and it just seems totally rude! And then I was upset because she has a super loud dog that barks all.the.time, and it’s like, if I have to listen to your dog all day long, you should pick up your own stupid sticks (okay, I’m 4.5 months pregnant, so the connection between those things might not be as logical as I think it is, haha.) I just think you should clean up your own yard!!
I know it could be a lot worse, but it just completely floored me that someone would think that is okay. I wonder if she does the same when leaves fall (we just moved in December, so I haven’t been through the fall in this house).

Wow – If she’s already cleaning them up to get them out of her yard, why not just bag them and be done?!? That wouldn’t take any more time than it takes to be rude and dump them on someone else.

I wonder if theres ongoing drama between them over the trees. It does seem like bagging them or dumping them over the fence would be the same amount of work. I’m guessing there’s more to the story and she’s being intentionally passive aggressive.

@SapphireSun: That’s possible. I’ve never met the offender, but the neighbor seems so sweet, I can’t imagine what it might be. I’ll have to try to catch neighbor someday soon.
And yes! I agree it wouldn’t take that much more work to bag it up. She keeps putting stuff in a little garbage can and then dumping it over fence–seems like it owuldn’t be much harder to dump it in the trash–and trash day is tomorrow!

I once had a neighbour who had a big dog. Our backyards bordered on each other. He actually used to scoop up his dog’s poop with a shovel and throw it over the fence into my yard. I had two small children who played in the yard and he never even looked to see who he might be hitting.
I spoke to him and asked him to please not do that anymore. Besides making me pick up poop from a dog I didn’t own, it was a health hazard for my children. He just kept doing it.
I decided there was more than one way to handle the situation. I lined a cardboard box with a plastic garbage bag and each time I scooped poop, I added it to the box. Eventually when it was full, I soaked it down with the hose to make sure it was all really moist and smelly. I then sealed it up and addressed it to him to look like a package the postal service might have delivered. I added a tag that said ” I think this belongs to you”.
I left the package on his front door when he was at work. He never threw poop over the fence again. I would have killed to see the look on his face when he opened the package.

@julies1949: Haha. I can see myself doing this and my poor even tempered husband just being like “do we really need to be storing a box of dog shit??”. Damn it, I’m hanging onto that bad boy till its full enough to deliver!
