Maybe I’m overreacting, but I had a terrible experience at a local bridal salon. They sell ball gowns, prom dresses etc.too, and I had a fairly good experience there when looking for a ball gown a couple of years ago. I didn’t buy my dress there, but the salesperson was nice and helpful. You don’t need to book an appointment, you can just stop by, so I went there on a whim yesterday to look at wedding dresses, just for fun.
Apparently, the owner of the salon had a problem with me going there alone… The salespeople weren’t there, it was just her. She gave me a snotty look when I walked inside.
Just like at my previous visit, I pulled some dresses and asked if I could try them on. And what does she say?
“We only sell to people who are set on buying here. And by the way, I think you should have brought someone to give advice on taste, like your mother for instance.”
Excuse me, WHAT?!? First, I’m a 25 year old grown woman, I can decide for myself, thank you very much. Second, what if I didn’t HAVE a mom for all she knew? (I have an awesome mom, we’re so close. <3) Last time I went, I had NONE of these problems with the salesperson, but suddenly this b**** says this out of nowhere!
I’m a very strong person, I don’t take crap from noone, so I put the dresses back on the racks and told her “you must have changed the rules since I was here before, and now you can forget having me as your customer”. Then I walked out of the store.
The funny thing is, one of my coworkers asked me today if I knew some stores around that sold evening gowns, and I told her NOT to go to that salon. I’ll tell everyone that from now on.
Sorry about the rant. Y’all know how it feels to be an anxious, overreacting bride, right? 😉
