…you should put up a picture of your ring. It sounds lovely!

I got a few negative comments on my ring by people that could not accept that an engagement ring could have anything besides a diamond. Not like “That’s hideous and stupid” but “oh… what is that? Why that?” and then obviously not liking it. (I’m a sapphire girl!)

Edit: That guy is unbelievable, but unfortunately, people say the weirdest and most inappropriate things to engaged people.

    Weird guy….

I havereceived a few “is it real?”comments and it always irks me that I then have to explain what the stone is (no… Not a diamond…). And depending on the person they will either be really interested or, “yeah, I thought so. It seemed fake.” Firstly, it isn’t FAKE, it is exactly what it is supposed to be… And If you knew it was “fake” why did you have to ask.

I havent gotten any rude comments persay but comments arent always with words. My ring is rather large (its fake so why not?) Ive had people look at it and roll their eyes. I used to work as a financial coordinator for an orthodontist office and had to start not wearing my ring on days I had appointments with parents because theyd see my ring an automatically give me an attitude.

I’ve totally been there. People don’t say my ring is “fake”… but they might as well. They think it’s too small (my mom), “not a real e-ring” (ex-coworker), and “Oh, it’s blue?” (my boss).

Whatevs. I picked a sapphire with white sapphire side stones because I like it, plus it saved us some money. So what?

    Btw, your ring rocks. 🙂

    That guy’s icky.

He’s a jerk. I’ve had comments about my ring being too small and now that I’ve upgraded it’s too big. Figure who care what other people think me and FI love my ring and that’s all that matters.

I’ve seen your ring and I think it’s beautiful. You love your ring so that’s all that matters not what some jack ass who has an ego problem thinks.

I get rude comments from my family regarding the size of my ring. To use a figure of speech, I “married up,” as far as my family is concerned, and they are constantly making comments about my DH’s ability to buy me that type of ring. I never wanted to seem like I was rubbing it in their face, so for whatever reason they always seem to think I am. Normal hand-gestures suddenly become me trying to “show off,” according to them… So I’ve picked out a more modest little stunt ring so I can wear it in front of my family when I visit them.

I am so sorry that happened to you, sometimes people can just be crappy.

But that ring is filled with love and meaning and that deserves no explaination to anyone. <3

    Oh, love it, love it!

I wanted one, but Shane Co. didn’t have them at the time and other companies in the area were talking about breaking up black diamond earring sets to take the diamond from, which I was like, nevermind. Then I went for a black sapphire, but my mom and sister talked me out of that. I shouldn’t have let them, though, I am happy with the white one.

And yeah, people do try to look down upon them because they aren’t traditional. The white diamond market really have everyone brainwashed. I know it can hurt, even when you have no reason to feel the “pity” or “shame” they try to cast on you for not having the traditional diamond.

I still want a black diamond.

@StuporDuck:  Sometimes we’d be so much happier in life if no other people were in it! LOL Just sometimes…..

@StuporDuck:  Both are lovely! I’ve considered getting the opposite- a larger “dummy” ring for the haters…people at work… and then wear my ring around people who… appreciate it. My FI, friends, and family. My mom says nothing anymore because she knew her first comment hurt.

Why can’t people just be happy for others?!
