I love them, but I don’t think they will stand the test of time. Anything heavily embellished, whether it’s ruffle skirts or poofy sleeves or tons of beading/sparkle tends to be more of a trend than a timeless thing. That said, IMO it doesn’t really matter whether a dress is “trendy” or “timeless.” What matters is that the dress makes the wearer feel like a million bucks!

Everything comes in and out of style. Just look at sleeves on wedding dresses.

I wore a ruffle skirt but I’m sure everything in my wedding will look dated in 20 years.

My dress has the horsehair bottom style! It is also a mermaid – totally a trend but who cares! I think no matter what you wear in 20 years your going to think, “What was I thinking!!”

My wedding will have an old-style vintagey theme with silver plated teapots as center pieces and pearls.  Needless to say I’ve always been a sucker for antiques and I want to have a really romantic theme!! The dress makes it!

Eh, as pp said they come and go 20 some odd years ago ruffles were sorta in . Who cares as long as you like it than wear it.  No matter what you wear in time will be cringe worthy. Not a huge deal.

Everything we wear right now we will cringe at in 20 years. That’s the essence of women’s fashion– trends. Why fight it 😛 ?!

That’s why I bought a dress from 2008. If I still like it now, it can’t possibly be trendy.

@sunflower22:  I don’t think they’ll be cringe worthy as long as their done tastefully. I’m all about ruffles but I have seen a few that are a little too out there haha!
