Talk to your doctor because it depends on what type of pill you’re on, but generally you can just start your next pack of pills and skip the sugar pills of the previous pack. Some people will experience breakthrough bleeding or spotting while doing this, but I never had a problem doing it.

@mreck89:  I have done this once or twice, and I have never really had any issues. My next period would be heavier, but that is about it. You should be ok 🙂

I’ve been on the pill for over 6 years now and I very rarely have my period. I was skeptical at first but I’ve asked several doctors about it and they’ve all said it’s not vital to have your period every single time, only just every now and then. I just try to make sure I do it at least 3 times a year. I don’t take the placebo pills, I just start straight on the next pack. It’s not harmful at all, I’ve been doing it almost the whole time I’ve been on the pill and no doctor has ever been concerned that I do it. I think it’s so awesome being able to skip it!

So my advice to you would be to just skip the placebo pills altogether and start on the next pack 🙂

Edit:  Should mention that it would probably depend what pill you are on. I’m in Australia and on Levlen – don’t know what your equivalent would be wherever you are. Your doctor will tell you what’s best for you anyway 🙂

Yep just take the next lot straight after the last lot finishes (don’t take the sugar pills/placebo pills) – it’s only a once off and it’s for a good cause, your honeymoon!

That’s what I’m planning to do. I didn’t want to go back on the pill (been off it for a year and use condoms) but I have to because my natural period is due on my honeymoon! No thank you !!

As people have said, you usually can start the next pack without the placebos.

A tip – make sure you are taking the pills at the same time of the day.  This can be difficult, especially with a lot going on for the wedding.  If you miss one day or even take one pill late a few hours that can often trigger a cycle.

It depends on whether you have a triphasic pill. If you have a pill that gets higher in hormones each week, then skipping the placebos and going to the first week of the next pack will result in your period anyway, and a more messed up one at that. If you have triphasic BC, you have to go week 1-week 1-week 2-week 2- week 3- week 3 in order to prevent bleeding.

What pill are you on? I was on Lo-estrin (or a generic form of that) and usually took 3 pill packs back-to-back (skipping the placebos). Occassionally I did get some spotting in the 2nd or 3rd months, but nothing like a normal period.

You might have a little bit of spotting, when you skip the sugar pills, but it should only be a day or 2.

I was supposed to have mine for my wedding too, but I just calculated a few months ago and changed when I stop using the nuva ring so it will now work out and I’ll have my period a week and a bit before

It depends if you have a triphasic pill or not, if it is triphasic they will be different colours each week.

It can still eb done if they are triphasic, it just has to be done a little differently. I just did it for my weding and it is working out perfectly. I changed my cycle up a couple months in advance so i wouldn’t get spotting the day of for sure. Let me know if you are triphasic and I will share what i did
