Thank you for sharing the link... poor couples and their weddings!
How awful. I hope these couples can get their money back and take a second honeymoon afterwards. It doesn't make up for it, unfortunately.
That's terrible! This really got me: "Copies of email money transfers by clients indicate Parisotto's company continued to request and accept payments from some clients even as she cancelled services for others."
How horrible! I hope those couples get their money back. But like another bee said it won't make up for it. I don't understand people. How can someone do that. Makes me really mad!
I thought I read that one of the board posters was one of the unfortunate couples. I wish I could remember who she is.
Yes, I think this poster is who you might be thinking of:

just horrible! I hope they all get their money back.
I felt sick to my stomach when I heard about this a week ago or so. It's a definite reminder to be careful when choosing vendors. FI and I are paranoid about vendors going under (especially with the recession) and pretty much decided to go for reputable, long standing vendors despite higher costs. All the best to those brides!
Thats so awful! It's scary to think that this problem may only get worse with vendors as these rough economical times continue :(
With so many vendors at risk for bankruptcy, now is a really good time to consider wedding insurance. It will pay you back if you have to hire a second vendor because your first ran off with your deposit. You can get it from WedSafe. We did this for our wedidng because I was so afraid of this situation!
Oh no. I could not imagine such a thing. That is horrible.
I meant to say, why does a planner need to file for bankruptcy? What biz debts does this person carry?
VegasBaby, you're right, it was me who was also taken in by this person. Heather25, its exactly what I was thinking too - what possible debts could a decorator or coordinator have that would cause them to go into bankruptcy? This wasn't a real bankruptcy, it was a total scam. She double booked services that she never provided. She's scammed nearly 30K and from something like 30 couples. There was a follow up article today: http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/679225
How horrible. Just makes me grateful for my wonderful event staff. Partly due to paranoia, we DIYed a lot! There is a special place in hell reserved for this bitch.
