Woohoo! Good job, I hope you guys celebrated big time! Just THINKING about running in the cold is enough for me to run and hide, LOL.
PS so cool you guys had your dates on the back of your shirts! love it =-]
Congrats! I could never ever run in the cold, I hate cold too much! Plus my asthma really really hates cold.
So awesome! I'm running the Broad Street Run in Philly first (10 miles) so not quite a half, but I'm hoping to work my way up to a half for September. Congratulations! What an awesome accomplishment!!!
That's excellent! Way to go. You should be proud of yourselves!
@EJS: My mom, sister, dad, and sister's BF wore them too! They said MOB, FOB, MOH, and G-Man on the back! Some people didn't know what they meant though and kept congratulating my mom, sister, etc. on their weddings! I'll have to post a picture of the shirt once I upload it.
@2Peas: Once you run 10 miles, 13 is not that hard. In fact, the longest training run I did for the half was 11 miles. Once you pass that ten mile mark, it's only a 5K from there. I flew through the last three miles!
@hotchild - I've heard that! The training plan only really prepares you for 11 miles...but I'm scared I'm going to collapse in the last 2 from lack of preparation! You have to figure that anything over a certain number is just going to be painful no matter how long or far you've run! Haha...
I still get excited for people who have done them though...just such an achievement!
Congratulations!!! I just did my first half in November and had such a fun time! I never thought I would use the word fun to describe running but it was. I was never a runner so it was a huge accomplishment for me. I am now looking for my next race to sign up for.
Congrats! That's awesome. I can barely get myself on the treadmill so I applaud you!
Congrats on your awesome accomplishment!!! Good luck with the marathon training :)
Awesome Job! I ran the Nike Womans Marathon in October in San Fransisco and I have had a partial knee replacement! It is such an awesome feeling having all the people cheering for you and crossing the finish line! Congrats! Awesome Job! I will warn you make sure you have plenty of time to train for a full marathon! It took up my entire summer, all i did was run and train! :)
Wow congrats! I have yet to run a marathon or half, and Im a runner! @missAB same prob with my asthma, it hates the cold!
Congrats! My friend Scott was there as well and now he's trying to convince me to do it with him next year. I just might!
Yay!!! Congrats! I'm training for a half-marathon this summer...so excited!!
Congrats! Half marathons are so much more fun. I don't even know how many of them I've done (a couple years ago, I think I did more than 6 races of at least half marathon distance in 12 months). We're doing one here in Houston this Sunday and another in a month that's totally on the beach! Such fun.
Thanks, all! I'm hoping to upload pics tonight so I will post a picture of the shirt tomorrow!
Great job hotchild!!!
I'm doing my first halfer on Feb. 21st and I'm scared! I ran 11 miles on Sunday and my legs started to jell-o out by mile 9 so I slowed down and walked for a bit but I want to try and run the entire real thing if possible.
Any advice as to prevent the leg issues from happening again would be greatly appreciated. Also, did anyone here ever have an issue with chafing? I hear that happens but it hasn't happened to me nor do I want it to.
Also, I would love to know what you ate the day before, or what to avoid.
Congrats again! Keep up the great work.
@halloween
There is no way to run a half without chaffing! Especially if it is hot I ran my marathon in the summer! Go to the baby aisle and by a tube of aquaphor it is about 6 bucks! It will be your new best friends!

I did it! This weekend, FI and I ran the Disney half-marathon on a record-setting weekend. It was the coldest half marathon in Disneyworld history and the first to have snow!
I didn't get exactly the time I wanted, but I did not care :o) The congestion in Magic Kingdom slows you down a LOT and the weather definitely had an impact. We really couldn't stretch that much before the race because it was SO cold, and it was freezing rain the ENTIRE time.
We wore shirts that said Bride and Groom on the back -- I wore a 6 and FI wore a 12, and we just made sure to stay on the correct side for the whole race. The shirts were a big hit and we got tons of congratulations throughout the race.
It was great, and I would definitely do it again! In fact, we're training for another one in April, and I'm considering the 2011 NYC Marathon. For all those who think you "can't run", you CAN! I have patellofemoral syndrome in my right knee, problems with my ankles, and I'm knocked-kneed. So if I can do it, so can you :o)
