I'm thinking about going too-- I'd be going to NYC too! I already have my dress but what an experience! I got my dress wayyyy to early and definitely would get a new one if I found my dream dress for cheap! I'm going to Kleinfelds on Monday the 18th too-- it says there is a sample sale, pnina and anne barge trunk show too!
I did the one in Long Island in August. I wouldn't count on getting a dress there (how can you make up your mind with that kinda pressure!???!) but definitely an AWESOME and FUN bonding experience (I made shirts for "my team" - just me, my mom and FMIL since she has no daughters and won't get to do it on her own. There are def groups there with like 20 ppl!). It's also a good chance to try on a bunch of styles all at once to get a better idea of what to hone in on.
You really are out in the open and it's co-ed (and if you're still there once the store opens regularly, it is open to the general public) so skip the thong and opt for boy-shorts or dance shorts. Also, one of the girsl near me brough her own folding step stool and full length mirror which proved super helpful!
I originally planned on doing the Manhattan one, too, but I *think* I've made up my mind on a dress (fingers crossed). GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi !!!!!!!! So I made up my mind today to go to the running of the brides in the city on feb 5th. Im really excited but nervous because what if i dont find that perfect dress... Im taking my mom, her sis in law and two of my girlfriends for support. I know they'll be honest and help so maybe my odds of actually finding the perfect dress just went up by having them there... I would suggest
It'll be my first time as well and Ive heard mixed reviews.. I guess we'll find out soon enough. =)
I went to the Boston Running of the Brides in August and found my dress. It was actually the very first one I put on and I LOVE it! $6500 Reem Acra marked down to $600. DEFINITELY worth it! I have to say though, we did wait in line all night. I waited with 3 friends and a 4th friend and my mom met us in line int he morning. Our plan was to run all the way to the back of the room grabbing whatever we could. You have to assign jobs. Bring signs. Someone needs to help you trying them on and getting them off. Someone needs to guard the dresses you have in your pile (im serious). and others need to carry the signs with your size range and what you're looking for and trade off the ones you dont want. we also made friends with the bride and her group behind us and set up right next to each other. it was helpful bc our taste differed so we essentially had double the dresses. have fun and good luck!!!
i am really looking forward to going! my cousin, sister, friend and mom will be traipsing with me that day...i have read about it that there are still plenty of dresses and it isnt as crazy to go around 1030 or 12pm...im not sure if i want to get the full experience and nuttyness or maybe i will want more organized chaos! LOL
either way, i think it will be a great experience. hope to see some of u there :)
boston bridey, congrats on scoring that great dress! post pics :) id love to see!
ALSO- does anyone have any tips on how to store the dress in case i do find *the perfect one*...since im not getting married til 10/11?

I am definitely going. But none of my friends (BMs are not local) will go with me in the morning, so I think my MOH and I will have to settle for going around 1030 and keep our fingers crossed!
Rplatzer - I would say try and make friends while your on line lol... Im sure people will be willing to help out..
Im planning on heading over with my posse(lol) around 7 to hopefully get there by the time they let everyone in. Good idea to head straight to the back. As far as waiting the whole night before the event - I dont think Im that dedicated to be out there in the cold for hours at a time.

good luck girls :) we should hold up a wedding bee sign and in addition to finding the perfect dresses, maybe well even find eachtoher LOL
Its a little over a week till dressmania and Im excited as well as nervous... I think the dress makes everything real & I just cant wait to actually have my dress. I had found "the one" last year, but as I went to try it on for the bridal party, I realized it just wasnt me - I guess I just got caught up in the idea of getting married that I fell for the first gorgeous dress I tried on.. Good thing my MOH took a picture of me in that dress so I could look at it now and see why I picked it and why I dont like it anymore lol. ugh Im a mental mess sometimes - Hopefully I pick a dress that I wont regret next week lol. *fingers crossed*

does anyone know if they give you a cover for the dress?? weather.com is showing that it's going to snow next friday (like it is currently).
snow + waiting outside on line + tryin on wedding dresses = no good.
hey brides! im excited as well. i am def going to go but prob around noon time! @love, not sure if they give you a cover for the dress?! i would imagine so (hope so!) wishing us all luck on us finding our dream dresses! (and having a lot of fun!)

I work close by and am definitely stopping by to dive into the chaos! I know they don't publicly list what designers they have - but does anyone know if Watters was there in years past? I have a specific dress in mind that I'm hoping to spot.
I am going to running of the brides in union square new york on friday as well. I am so excited and i am really hoping a find a dress. I know for sure my mom is coming with me and i have between 1 and 3 friends that are possibly joining. I want to wish everyone good luck in finding their dream dress!
good luck to everyone, i went yesterday to try on a few styles just to see which would fit best (to prep for friday) and i fell in love with a gown. i am a proud owner of a wedding dress. =)

i made an appt at davids bridal just to try on a few different styles, good thing my mom was there, she saw a dress and thought it would be a good choice to try on, i of course was not feelin it but once i had it on and looked in the mirror, i was upset with myself for liking it haha i know - im weird. i tried on a few other dresses and finally threw this one back on and thats when i knew. i had a great consultant and best part - my gown isnt even in their catalog or on their website yet... so atleast its a little more exclusive lol.
I'm having second thoughts about whether or not to go - does anyone know if they only carry old lines of designers, or whether they also have some of the new stuff? Any insight is appreciated!
@Love thats great!!! good for you! im sure its beautiful...thats what the say, always try on something u would never see ur self in!
@jack im not sure myself. i am def going to go bcuz i think itll be a great experience just to try on ANYTHING. i know at a lot of bridal shops/boutiques, once you are in the dressing room, they choose what dresses would be good. for the most part, i am going so that i can have the chance to try on anything and everything and begin to see which dresses would be a better style for my body type. if nothing more- itll def be an experience! im not going until around lunchtime but i have heard a lot of ppl say they had a great exp and also found their "perfect" dress. well see what happens :) good luck if you go!
@missjayellegee - I feel the same way, I'll probably end up going just for the experience, I guess I'm just nervous because I already think I found the dress I want just not at the right price, hence why I'm opting in to try to find it at the discount - and I don't want to open the flood gates to even more choices at this point. I guess I'll see what happens though - worth a shot! Good luck to you too!
yes, they are older lines. mostly samples that boutiques have to move out for the new stuff. i was hoping to find a dress that i already knew i loved from jim hjlem when i went in boston but found a reem acra that was even better. def. go check it out!

Hi bees...
Just curious if any of you have ever attended a Running of the Brides in your home city or near by city. The one closest to me, in NYC, takes place on Feb 5th. I wanted some feedback on if its worth going to...and any details you could tell me about ur experience...did you find your perfect dress? did you bring a truckload of ppl to help you navigate etcetcetc!
