I am currently 22w4d pregnant and was just wondering if a ruptured eardrum can have any adverse side effects on my baby? I was in excruciating pain, finally went to emerg and they diagnosed me with a severe ear infection, and since coming home from the hospital my eardrum has ruptured. Has anyone else experienced that while they were pregnant???
Thanks for the help bees!

I have no idea about ruptured ear drum and the babies health. But just wanted to say hope you feel better. I have had lots of ear infections when i was younger and they can be SO painful.

I don’t think it should affect your baby but you should go to an Ear Nose and Throat physician for antibiotics (be sure to tell them you’re pregnant) and in the meantime, keep that ear dry. When you get in the shower, etc wear an ear plug (like the wax kind you get at the drug store) or a piece of cotton with vaseline on half of it. Put the cotton in your ear with the vaseline facing out to repel the water. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!
