Check out Mrs. Cherry Pie's wedding- I think it would be right up your alley!
hmmm i don't know if we'll be going with rustic, i was thinking more casual elegance, but we are going to go with a b and b in the woods (i think.. i'll have to answer more when i'm actually engaged lol) but they have a huge firepit and we're going to do smores and really casual fun back yard food... however i plan on doing ostrich feather centerpieces because i love the juxtoposition of the extremely formal look in an outdoors setting.
I'm having my wedding this August at my in-laws' home up in Big Bear, CA. It's a beautiful mountain home and everything will be in the front yard ('cause there are horses out back). We're doing vintage aqua mason jars and little randomly sized medicine bottles with sparse flowers on long banquet tables. Very eclectic, very DIY. Here are some of my fave ideas in pics. We're doing a slight bird theme since my FI and I always go up there to sit and watch the wildlife (we're both photographers and it's a nice change from our city lives to photograph the birds and bunnies).
some cute ideas on this blog

we ordered some of these instead of mason and loved the look for my daughter and I both will reuse them in different ways now that the wedding is over

I had a sort of Southern Theme going on with mine, but I don't think mine was at all rustic. It was crisp & clean, with a southern feel. Here's a couple of photo's that may give you inspiration. BTW - I love the photos the girls above have posted! Great inspiration for the OP ladies!

@jennajean16: hi! i am doing almost the exact same theme! we want mason jars, fans for programs (card stock/flat stick), maybe even slices of oak (or some other tree) rounds for tables (can put mason jars etc. on them), or also use them to stack desserts on. ferns are pretty and cheap to fill in awkward spaces.

smores packages for favors?
We're having a country chic wedding with mason jars, white hydrangeas and wood accents. Another useful item is high quality burlap. I'm making round centerpiece placemats using it and long table runners for the head table. As well, I love the idea we stole from a blog to have paper bags laying flat at each place seating, it will hold the napkins, favors and utensils. We then used large number stamps to add the table number to the paper bag front. Obviously not with plastic utensils, but imagine a white linen napkin poking out and the silverware. I can't wait!

I'm planning a reception in my FIL's backyard on a mountain, and we're trying to go for a "rustic elegant" feel. I think it will be gorgeous with their log home and the green mountain in the background (our wedding will be next summer.) We're setting up big white tents and plan to do simple floral DIY centerpieces using mason jars filled with sliced fruit and bright orange blooms like gerbera daisies or dahlias. Is anyone going with a similar theme? Any photos/ideas/inspiration for a rustic but elegant reception?
