THere are several places that might work for you in ventura county. The camarillo ranch house has a great old barn and isn't very expensive; however, it also books way in advance and is hard to get. A few more suggestions:
Good luck!
I actually got married at Camarillo Ranch, and it was beautiful! It had more of a vintage vibe, as we got married on the huge lawn, not in the barn. I must admit, though, that it wasn't that cheap (at least for us)...rental starts at $3000 (on a sunday!), and that only includes the venue. We had to bring in EVERYTHING: the catering, tables and chairs, lights, and there was not even a kitchen for the caterers to work out of. Also, we had only 2 hours to set everythng up, so we had to hire people ($$$) to help with that in the short time frame. If I had forseen all of the logistical challenges, I am not sure if I would have been willing to pay that much. But like I said, it was a beauuutiful venue! Our pictures should be awesome!
Another rustic venue my friend got married at was the Oak Canyon Nature Center in Anaheim. It looks gorgeous! And I think it's much more affordable and more rustic. She got married under an oak tree. I wish I had known of this place a year ago!

@jasdustin: The Rustic Orchard would be a great venue and it's a new spot! Not over used but we are located In Napa but we are in your price range.

I've been searching for 4 months to find the perfect rustic/Chic wedding location.
I really would love to do it a ranch somewhere. Must be within 3 hours of LA. If not a ranch somethign rustic..maybe under an oak tree. I dont want to spend anymore then 5K on the location fee. 100 people!
