@kay01:  I totally understand how this feels. It’s hard to tell yourself they just weren’t someone that were meant to be in your life anymore. My college best friend basically cut off a relationship with me after she got married and had a child, based on some really hurtful things she ASSUMED I would do and say because of it. It’s hard, but I am hoping one day she will contact me again.

Maybe he’s in a new, committed relationship and does not feel the need to stay in touch with any of his exes.  That’s pretty common, I wouldn’t take it personally.  If he wants to get back in touch with you sometime, chances are he will.

The whole blocking thing might have been something he felt he needed to do to get over you. Hopefully he’ll come around in the future. But sometimes, that’s just what it takes until feelings heal. 🙁

It’s always sad to not be close with a best friend anymore.  I’m sorry for you.  But, just think of the great friendship and relationship you’ve gained with your FI.  Yes, it will not replace the void from the old friend, but you have found someone that you want to spend you life with and devote all of your (beyond friendship) love to.  It’s sad that because of that your old friend doesn’t want to be apart of your life right now.  But you do have something amazing still with the FI. 🙂
