One of my friends is getting married in June of next year, and one of her bridesmaids was recently married (November 2009).
Her bridesmaid’s husband was killed in Afghanistan by a roadside bomb last week, after being deployed two weeks prior. She is a widow at age 25, and lost her mom a week before her wedding as well.
It’s things like this that make me realize that the small stuff, the things that have been driving me batty or driving me to tears in the wedding planning process… they don’t matter.
I can’t even imagine what she must be going through right now. Please keep her in your thoughts.

I am so sorry! I agree with you. When I hear of terrible tragedies such as this, I think to myself how the small things are not a big deal at all. Your friend is in my thoughts.

Wow, really sorry to hear. My thoughts and prayers are with her during this time!
One of my very good friends from college was married at 23, they found out they were pregnant about 6 months later and they had a little girl. Her husband was deployed to Iraq that December, and about 2 weeks shy of his 25th birthday in April, he was killed. It makes me sad to know they had such little time together – but at least they had the time that they did, and she has her little girl.
I hope your friend finds peace and love again.

It is so awful to hear that. Someone I knew from high school was killed in Afghanistan in July 🙁 His best friend, another friend of mine from HS, was hurt very badly.

That is very sad news. It is stories like this that make me appreciate every moment I have with my man. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain she is going through.

So so sad….
I cry every time I hear about this and every time I see it on the news. I count my blessings every single day that my son was able to come home safe from over there. He had to be life flighted out of there, but he is okay now and I thank God every day. My thoughts and prayers go out to your friend’s bridesmaid, the family, and to your friend.
This just shouldn’t be happening….

So very sad. That is my biggest fear. My FI is in the army. He just came home from a year long deployment. The whole year I kept praying he would make it home safe. I can only imagine the pain she must be feeling.
