Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that =( Do you have insurance on it?
Oh no, that is definitely my worst nightmare. I'm really sorry. Do you have insurance on it?
Thank you ladies! Yes I do have insurance! Thank GOODNESS!! Still sad that it won't be my original diamond anymore.. but thanking my lucky stars that they will replace it for me!
However, with the holidays here now, they said that I won't get it back for 8 weeks :(
Oh goodness....that sucks, I'm sorry. Sounds like you have insurance (?), I'm hoping you can get it fixed quickly!
ETA: YAYYYY INSURANCE FTW!
THANK GOD you have insurance!! Have you tried retracing your steps to see if you can find it?
@ForeverBlessed: Gah that's terrible. At least you're insured!!!! A good reminder for ladies to make sure they get insurance. It's much easier paying a few hundred a year than replacing a centre stone. Eeek.
Oh my! I would be hysterical but like others have said THANK GOD you've got insurance - it does suck that you won't have your new sparkly over the holidays though! *virtual hugs*.
Oh my goodness! Is there anyway to retrace your steps....its a long shot but who knows? I am so sorry.
Can you go on a quick walk to retrace your steps? I mean its a slim chance but if you didn't walk too far maybe you could find it?
Oh, no! That is soo heartbreaking!!! I am so sorry this happened to you. (HUGS)
I retraced my steps quickly, but had to leave for work.. so I am planning on trying again tomorrow morning. However, we live out in the country and our dogs love to go for a walk through the tall grass (it's about knee high on me) and that's where we were today. So, sadly, I think my diamond is probably somewhere in that tall grass. My chances of finding it are very slim to none. :(
Thanks for all of the *virtual* hugs ladies, I appreciate them!
@howtobeawife: I had a lifetime warranty on it through the jeweler.. which does cover it's full replacement!
I'd try walking around with a flashlight, even during the day. My diamond necklace came off one day as I ran through a gravel parkinglot. The diamonds reflected back from the light. I wouldn't have found it without that flashlight!
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry! I am glad you have it insured and can get a new stone, at least!
That is a bit strange since it does not appear the prongs were bent or damaged at all. Was it a princess cut (it looks that way)? I have heard of some jewelers (not great ones) using glue on princess cut corners (as they are not easy to set) and when this glue breaks down the stone can be too loose in the setting. The glue is not always visible during an inspection of a set stone.
@RayKay: I know, it was so strange! I asked the jeweler how this would have happened.. since all of my prongs were still in place. She said that it just oddly does happen sometimes. We purchased my ring through a very reputable company, so I am completely shocked that this happened. Hopefully it was just a one time fluke! And yep, it was a 1 carat princess cut diamond.
That's terrible!! :( But thank god you have it covered.. I'd be tempted to go out again and look for it, although a diamond lying loose on its own isn't easy to find on the street.
:( Oh no! So glad that it's covered and you'll get a new stone, though.
holy CRAP that's terrifying :( I'm so glad you had it completely insured, reading this made me make extra sure that mine is insured like that! <3 <3
Holy sh*t!!! I would die! Thank goodness you have insurance!
Ack!!!!! Thank goodness you had it insured!
Bring a flashlight and alllllll your patience when you go looking theough the tall grass. Many years ago, I found a teeny melee diamond this way after I had smacked it off a ring while chopping wood at the cottage. Everyone there told me there was no way I would find it when I saw it was missing. It didn't even take that long. I did a victory dance when showing them.... yes, it was necessary :)
So sorry to hear this!! I'd be sad too. Just remember that the ring and diamond are a symbol of the love you and your fiance/husband have for eachother. A new diamond will still be that same symbol for you both! AND, at least you didn't lose the whole ring.
Also, your dog should thank you for walking her/him and apologize for losing your diamond. ;)

So, this morning I came inside from walking my dogs.. and looked down at my hand, to see my wedding ring with NO DIAMOND! Yep, you read that right.. my centerstone diamond fell out of my ring while we were on our walk! I just had my ring last inspected two months ago and it was perfectly fine.. so I have no idea what happened! :(
Lo and behold.. my sad ring with no diamond..
(Sorry it's so blurry, but you get the point!)
