I (finally) managed to snag a job, but like a lot of jobs nowaways, they don’t want me to start until after I get my bar results. That’s going to be a few months from now. I’ll be fine financially as I’m using this time to expand my business and I can live off that until I start work, but I’m mostly struggling with the boredom. My business is very low maintence, maybe takes three hours a day to run it if I’m really trying to find things to do? Job hunting used to take up a ton of my time, but that’s over with now thankfully. I’m staying with my SO for a bit and I’ve enjoyed taking care of him since he works so hard working and going to school. I do all the chores, errands, cooking, making and bringing him lunch in the afternoons and work out every day. I’m cleaning more thoroughly than I’ve ever cleaned before and cook most of our meals rather than eating out. But that still doesn’t fill even a fraction of my day since SO has a tiny apartment and I’m BORED OUT OF MY SKULL. I guess I could start cleaning the bathtub EVERY day, but that seems really unnecssary and even more boring. This is (thankfully) only temporary so I can’t start any kind of longterm projects and I’m looking for hobbies that aren’t expensive as we’re both trying to save. SAHWs without kids, how do you keep busy?

Dizbee: There are always non profits looking for short term volunteers.

Dizbee: you should volunteer somewhere. The world needs more people with free time. Help run an animal shelter or women’s shelter, go visit elderly who don’t have family members that visit. It would be good for you as well.

I volunteer, read, hike, sew, visit friends, meet up with my husband for lunch, garden, cross stitch, quilt.. I need more time in my day to do everything I want to do!

Dizbee: I’m in the same position…my job was supposed to start a month ago, but I’m STILL waiting on HR to clear my paperwork UGHH. I have been so freakin bored out of my mind. Every week I hope to start the following week, so I can’t even commit to any other volunteer work or part time work…
I’ve sewn a t-shirt quilt, practiced my instrument I hadn’t picked up in years, do yoga on youtube, planned the wedding.

You can come clean my house! Do you have a garden? That’s where I spend a lot of time in the summer. Volunteering is also a great idea.

i’d love to have free time. I love working on crafty projects and stuff and feel like work is constantly holding me back from doing things i want to do. Even to just watch a tv series from the start or surf the net.. i guess i dont get bored easily.. at work is another story though lol

I would LOVE to have that free time. Once you’re working again I’m sure you’ll be like, “Why didn’t I do x, y and z??!”
i would work out a ton to get the best body I would likely ever have! 🙂
i would play my violin. I would volunteer with environmental and social service non profits, particularly for the elderly. I’d get my potted garden in shape. I’d practice my husband’s guitars. I’d explore music/bands I’ve never heard. I’d lounge in a city park and read books on my list.
