Anyone? Sorry its late notice & kinda a wierd thing to ask.
The dog is very friendly & is a husky/lab mix & is 9 months old.
I wish I could help you but I live in the wrong state!! Good luck, getting the doggy back.
Thank you :). I've tried emailing all Salem area rescue groups & just put an ad on craigslist rideshare. No responses yet. If I had the gas $$ to pick the dog up myself, I would. The dog is only like 20 minutes away, I wish there was a dog communication system, like Doug in Up!!
I wish I could help! I was in the same situation a couple weeks ago. If I was in the right state I'd help in a heartbeat. Good luck!
The same ride situation may still be needed - the dog will now be in Eugene, but still needs a ride from the office she's at to I-5. Its been changed to Tues, March 15, sometime around 1-2pm when the driver will be there.
There is a chance I already have a ride for the dog, but they can only do it around noon & the driver may not be that early. His truck broke down & its planned to be fixed early tomorrow morning.
Sorry, I'm really confused. Where is this dog going? Where are you trying to take it to? Where are you? Will you be taking care of this dog long term or for a short time.
It's great that you are trying to help out this dog but all I get is that this dog was in a city east of Salem but now it's in Eugene. But have no idea where you want to get it to. Which city?
At first I was trying to get the dog from Silverton to I-5 & the closest city along I-5 from the dog is Salem. A semi-truck driver, we'll call him T, was going to meet the dog there at 8pm tonight. T's truck broke down & is being repaired so is delayed traveling until tomorrow. T will still travel thru Salem area tomorrow around 11am, but no one can meet him with the dog in Salem.
However, I just found someone that can bring the dog from Silverton to Eugene tomorrow (on his way to work), we'll call him E. E can bring the dog to his work but can't leave his work to go to I-5 except for his lunch at noon. E is going to try to meet T along I-5 in Eugene. But if T gets delayed (or repaired later), it may pose a problem for E meeting T, so that's why I'm trying to find someone.
I have a ride for the dog to me, it just needs to get to the semi-truck, which is traveling along I-5, then will pass thru my town (Medford, OR) & I'll meet T here.
Bascially, I'm just trying to get the dog to I-5 at the same time my driver T passes thru. Sorry its kinda confusing!!
Wow, that's complicated. Yeah, sorry, Medford is too far. I would consider going to Portland and Salem but not much south than that. Good luck, hope you find someone.
Oh, so are you going to take care of the dog from now on. Is this a long term solution? My husband is a big softie on stray animals and especially dogs, so if it was closer, we probably would help.
@yrret107: I think she needs someone to pick up the dog from Eugene and meet T in Salem. At least that's what I got from it. I rescue dogs here in Houston, so I always follow these kind of threads to see if the dogs ever get to where they need to be...
@yrret107: Thank you :). I'm 100% sure I will get her here (just not sure when). I don't need anyone to drive her to Medford (T is doing that). My family owns a trucking company & one of the drivers (T) was picking up a load somewhere in WA today, & now on his way to CA along I-5. The dog basically has a free ride to me. I just need to get her to the semi-truck driver. The driver can not drive thru towns or neighborhoods because its 70 feet long & he can't leave his load (unsafe). So that's the issue with getting the dog to T. T's truck broke down today so its getting fixed & he's passing thru Salem around 11am tomorrow but no one can bring the dog to Salem to be picked up then. E is a relative of S (the dog's owner who's away at school) & E is picking up the dog from Silverton & driving her with him to Eugene tomorrow. The dog will be with E either tonight or very early tomorrow so the dog is not in Eugene yet, but will be tomorrow morning.
@sdrury89: I'm sorry I'm probably explaining it wrong. I just need to get the dog to anywhere along I-5. Could be Salem area, Eugene area, Portland area, or anywhere in between or around that. It only changed to Eugene because that's where E could bring the dog. E actually COULD bring the dog to I-5 around Salem tonight at 8pm but T can't get there til 11am tomorrow. E works tomorrow in Eugene.
I'm sorry I'm confusing :(. It just got very complicated once T's truck broke down. I mean, someone COULD still pick the dog up in Silverton tonight or tomorrow & bring her to I-5 since E doesn't have her yet. But we have to wait for T to get to that area in I-5, which will be around 11am tomorrow at Salem area.
@yrret107: Sorry, didn't answer the other part of your question! I'm going to take care of the dog for 4 months while the owner is in college. She's not allowed dogs where she is (I think in the dorms or an apartment). Once she's done with school, she will move to a place that allows dogs & then she'll get her dog back from me. For me, its like an extended "fostering".
Are you taking the dog from somebody? Like from someone's home? Are they aware the dog is being taken?
The owner (S) posted on Facebook that her dog wasn't being taken care of. I saw it & she explained she's away at school & someone back at her hometown was supposed to watch the dog for her. However, they're not doing that so I offered to foster the dog for 4 months while she's at school. The person who has the dog at their house doesn't want the dog there so they're glad she's going away. They already know the dog is leaving soon, S talked with them. The people won't drive the dog 20 minutes to where T can meet them, which is the problem, the dog is stranded at that house.
@serabell: Okay that makes sense. I was hoping this wasn't a covert steal-the-dog-back thing or anything.
@Gingersnap: Nah, its not that kinda mission! The dog is being abused & starved. She says the dog's fur is falling out because the food the dog does get is full of corn & the dog is allergic to corn. Poor pup :(
@serabell: Oh no! Poor dog :( You're doing a great thing fostering him!
Update: Everything's working out :)! The person who picked up the dog is meeting with my semi-truck driver soon & the timing is perfect. The dog should be to me by the end of the day :). I also heard back from a couple of the rescue groups I emailed & they said they can help if this falls through.
Edit: They're meeting right now! So everything is great :).

My best friend's sister (S) is away at school, while she was gone someone was supposed to take care of her dog for her. They're not. S found out because her old neighbors called her saying the dog needs to be rescued. I'm not sure how severe it is, but apparently the dog is being starved & I think just left outside day & night & not socialized at all. I'm trying to get the dog to me & I found a driver that can pick up the dog along I-5 tonight around 8pm but need to get the dog to I-5.
S is trying to contact anyone she knows around that area to bring the dog. Wondering if any Bees are in the area that could help??
The dog needs to be taken from a town that's about a 20 minutes drive East of Salem, to somewhere along I-5. I only have until around 8pm tonight. Otherwise, I have a for sure ride for the dog in 2 weeks, but want to get the dog out ASAP.
