Does she know that’s your dress?  I’m sorry you have to deal with this awkward situation!

I would talk to her.  Did she know it was your dress? Did she already order it? You have to let her know how you’re feeling.

You should feel hurt if she knew exactly which dress you picked.  If she didn’t know, then it is one of those tough situations that is not anyone’s fault.  Hopefully, one of you can alter the dress to make it look different – would it look pretty with a sash, or can you add straps, or an extra crinoline to give it a slightly different shape?

I’m so sorry you are going through that! (((hugs)))

Was she with you when you bought your dress? Maybe she liked it so much on you that she wanted to try it out. How many people will be overlapping at your weddings? You can still make it your own with different accessories and a different veil.

yikes thats awkward.  If she didnt know it was the same one, then you two just happen to have the same taste.  How much would it seriously bother you if you had the same dress?  I can see it being less of a deal if the weddings were further apart, but 2 weeks is cutting it close.  She has no reason to be ignoring your calls and texts, though, its not your fault that she picked the same dress you had prior!!!

Oh my god I am soo sorry! I can’t believe her, to me I’m a grudge-holder so I would end the friendship but that’s just me..irrational and easily offended.

I refused to try on any dresses I had already seen on other brides (weddings I attended). That being said, sounds like she didn’t know this was your dress and when you are shopping at the same place, working with similar budgets, have similar taste.. it can happen.

You’ve already signed the contract and put down a deposit, so it’s up to her to decide. I fshe goes for it, just keep in mind everyone looks SOOO different in wedding dresses, it’s hard for most people to even notice (minus us bees who would def notice something like that).

Now the other and bigger issue is why did she choose a date 2 weeks before yours if she got engaged after you?? Our friends chose one two weeks after ours, but we’re June 12th and they always dreamed of a June wedding, so we didn’t mind. We can’t claim that entire month! But for her to make hers BEFORE yours? Doesn’t make sense.

Oooooooh your FI makes a really good point, mine would be the same way…she is handling this all wrong (assuming, of course, that this is why she isnt responding to you).  I feel like she should not have picked a date that close, and since she did, she should forefit the dress.  Just my opinion.  Let us know when you talk to her what the outcome is!  Maybe offer to go dress shopping with her again??

If she knew that was your dress, then that is some major passive aggressive sneakiness.  She is totally sabatoguing you.

On the other hand, if she didn’t know, the whole thing could just be an ugly coincidence.  And as for the timing of the wedding, venues book up so sometimes brides don’t have a ton of control over date selection.
