(Closed) Sample sale/ Trunk Show… what’s the difference??

They are completely different. A sample sale is where they sell the old (usually last year’s) gowns at a discount. The gowns have been tried on and may be dirty or stretched out. At a trunk sale, the designer comes and brings the full line of their upcoming season’s dresses. Since most shops only carry a few designs chosen from the entire line, this is often the only time you can see the whole line. These dresses are brand new and will be ordered and made just for you. There may be a small discount like 10% just to get you in the store, but typically these are NOT going to be cheap dresses.

Another perk to trunk shows is that often the designer will be there. I went to a trunk show in May & the dress designer was my "consultant" – she helped me try on all of the gowns, chatted with my BMs and fiance, and even took all of my measurements herself! It was a neat experience, and I saved 10% on a gown I would have bought for full price anyway 🙂
