Hey Bees, so a few months ago I tried on an Allure 2716 at a store near my house. When I tried it on I didn’t have the deposit with me and by the time I got back to order it the sales associate told me that I may not get it in time for my wedding and that I would have to pay more to rush it. I was already over budget on the dress so I couldn’t really do that. Anyway my question is…. The dress that I tried on in store… Could I just buy that? Do people do that? Is that what people mean when they say they purchased a sample gown? Do all stores do that or should I like call and see if that’s a possibility. when I tried on the dress it didn’t fasten up the back but I have lose weight since then and I plan on losing more. Could I go in and try it on and if it fits just buy it right then? Any experiences or feedback is appreciated. Thanks!!

Sometimes you can, sometimes not. It depends on the store. THe store has to wait the same amount of time for a new sample as you have to wait for a dress so depending on the popularity they may not sell it.

I was looking for a Wtoo OLivia sample and contacted several stores. From those who had it only one offered to sell it. Where I am from the dress ends up costing around $1700-$1800 (after taxes) and they were willing to sell it for $1300 before taxes. Not a really big savings.

Did you look the preowend route?

I bought a sample dress. But it completely depends on the store. For mine they gave me 20% off and free alterations, and the lady told me she’s never seen anyone else trying on that dress… who knows how true that is. Ive heard of alot of bees on here gettin way more of a discount. You will need to call and see if they will even sell the sample dress. If they do it NEEDS to be at a discount, dont ever pay full price.

I work in a boutique that does sell samples but many stores don’t because to them its not worth buying a new sample for the store. Its worth asking just do not expect a huge discount especially if it is a popular/new dress because like I said before the boutique will have to purchase a new one the Allure just won’t give them one to replace it. Hope that helps!

Some stores specialize in samples and discontinued gowns and you’ll likely get a great discount if you find one. Search the dress name and style online. You may also find one for sale new/unworn.
