I just needed a place to share my frustration. I just called Sam’s club to ask a question about the available ordering dates for flowers for my wedding – I was planning on purchasing them online and paying the extra non-membership 10% fee (still cheaper than my florist), and in the middle of asking about if its possible to make an order more in advance than the available dates on the website, the sales lady hung up on me!
I asked her about the date thing and the conversation went like this:
Lady:” I don’t know, you should call the toll free number on your membership card”
Me: “I don’t have a membership card as I was planning on purchasing the flowers online and paying the 10% non-membership cost”
Lady: “Well thats not possible and if you’d clicked through to the purchasing page, you would have seen that you have to register to buy” (I couldnt click through to the screen to see that as I couldnt select a date – hence my problem)
Me:”oh ok, but it says i can purchase as a guest, non-member and pay the extra 10%”
Lady: “Do you know anyone with a membership card?”
Me: “No, but th…”
Lady: Hangs up
I was so pissed. Fortunately I decided to call back and managed to get a lovely sales lady who helped me out and referred me to the appropriate people. I’m stil super annoyed by it though. All I wanted to know was if its possible to order flowers for november 27 – the website’s latest listed date is november 20, so i didnt think that would be impossible – and she didn’t even want to let me ask a question. I’ve never been hung up on in my life and i’m feeling quite offended.
Has anyone else had bad experiences with sam’s club customer service? Or do you think she was just in a foui mood?
FI and are were hoping to use this trial with sam’s club to see if its worth getting a membership or not.

Ah, don’t blame it on Sam’s. She just sounds like a witch.

I’m from Canada, so I have no experience with Sam’s club, but I’d be tempted to complain, or not use them at all. Because it is a substantial savings, it would be hard to NOT use them just because one person who works there is a wench, but holy! what a wench! Sorry that happened, I’d be shocked and ticked!

Well assuming she actually hung up and the call didn’t just get dropped, I don’t think you can really blame Sams Club, she was probably just having a bad day.

@ERsax: Wow, how rude! I just ordered mine from Sam’s two weeks ago for our Nov 2 wedding. It looked to me like they only allow you to order 3 or 4 weeks out from your wedding date. I haven’t had bad customer service from Sam’s. I would suspect she was extra rude because you don’t have a membership card but that is stupid customer service because good service is more likely to encourage you to become a member.
Thankfully the floral service is separate from individual clubs. The lady was probably busy and had no idea about the floral service but still she should have palced you on hold and requested help from someone else.

If you remember her name, I’d call and tell the manager about her behavior. I don’t care how bad your day is, don’t treat customers like that!

I’m going to assume she probably wouldn’t ask a question just to hang up on you. I’m willing to bet the call was dropped.

have you considered that maybe the call was accidently disconnected?

When I worked retail we would have calls dropped sometimes, and it was annoying becuase they would call back in, get me, and ream me out for hanging up on them.
