Where did you get your wedding dress alterations done?
My dress is in and I’m getting it today. It’s a Vera Wang from DB and I’ve heard they jack their prices up. I am so exhausted with everything going on and planning has been pushed a side and part of me wants to just say, hell.. get it done there b/c the dress is already there and it’s one less thing to worry about.
Unless- a local bee knows of a great place to get alterations done. I need a bussel, straps added, and other than that I think alterations will be limited.

@maypearl: I haven’t had to have any dresses altered, but I’m sure there’s something on West Commerce. That’s where all those wedding/quinceñera/other stores are. Hopefully someone else can help with a specific place.

I’ve heard great things about “Sew Chic” – I’m planning to take my dress there when I get it in next month. I’ve never used them, but my planner and a friend in San Antonio both recommended them.

@StuffWithScout: Thanks! Yea DB was a definate NO today. I adore my dress but I need a bussel, need it taken in a bit up top, the hem a bit up, and want straps added.
I’ll definately check them out

@StuffWithScout: Well they were really nice but it would cost $600 which seemed a bit high so on to the next..

@maypearl: Who did you end up using? My wedding is in July but I need to have my dress taken in and the zipper changed to a corset.

I took it to San Marcos Alterations- it’s in the Outlet mall.
BEWARE- the lady didn’t show up for TWO of my appointments and then lost my information so never called me to tell me my dress was ready. I had to contact them when I knew they had plenty of time to be done with it. (4 weeks AFTER they finished the work)
If you’re willing to deal with lack of communication, it’s worth it. I only paid $185 (I also told them they needed to compensate me for me driving up there twice with an appointment and them not being there and not calling me when my dress was ready. They took off 10%) I had a bustle put on, the hem taken up 6 inches, straps put on, the bust taken in twice, and bra pads sewn in. The work she did was perfect.
