I have been looking in the San Diego area for good dress shops that aren’t outrageously expensive and carry dresses that are under $1000. Does anyone know of any?
I have tried 2000 Dreams Bridal and Sparrow Bridal. I am going back to both places next weekend and I also want to try out Dahlia Bridal too while I am there.
Also there is a Breast Cancer fundraiser/bridal show that weekend too that I might check out.
I looked at The Bustle, The White Flower, and Here Comes The Bride but those all seem too expensive for what I am looking for.
Also, I went to David’s Bridal in Murrieta and I was not impressed. With their selection or their staff. The girl helping was nice but I kept asking for mermaid/trumpet shape and she kept bringing out a lines and sheaths. 😐 Not what I was looking for. I think I will avoid them in the future. &Alfred Angelo didn’t really have anything on their website that excited me. I like the feel of smaller boutiques.
Anyone know of some good shops? I am not opposed to consignment, in fact I kind of like those better. The dresses have a story behind them. 🙂
Also, if you know of any in the IE, that would be helpful too. I just assume San Diego would be a better place to look because the IE is so boring.

Nobody from SD has any input? Eh?

I was going to suggest Here Comes the Bride during their trunk and sample sales. You may find a great deal on a dress that was previously above your price point. Just go elsewhere for alterations. They did a great job but you can find cheaper alterations. The store comped mine due to a minor error that wasn’t even thier fault. Otherwise, I wasn’t going to pay $450 for a hem, bustle, and bringing in the darts and side seams.
I had such a positive experience with HCTB and my budget ($3,000) was on their lower end but they still gave me fantastic service start to finish.

@MrsPaulsBabyBallerina: I have only read good reviews about them but unfortunately most of their dresses are waaay out of my price point. :/ I’ll keep a lookout for when they have trunk shows though! That is a good idea! 🙂 Thanks!

i believe there’s a shop called mia bella couture down there. i didn’t get my wedding dress from them, but i got my bridesmaids dresses there (at their store in fresno, where i’m from). i live in oceanside now and don’t get down to sd very often, so i don’t remember exactly where it’s located. i just happened to see it when we were passing through town. i don’t know what their selection/pricing of wedding gowns is like, but the bridesmaids dresses were pretty reasonable, so maybe their wedding gowns will be too. here’s their website so you can check it out: http://www.miabellacouture.com/
hope that helps! good luck!

@taylorkirby: Did you end up attending that show yesterday? I stopped in just to look and I ended up finding 2 designers that I really like.
Maybe going to LA/orange count might help finding within your price point?

@taylorkirby: Have you tried Bridal & Tuxedo Galleria of San Diego?? They have TONS of dresses under 1,000 and although the YELP reviews are a mixed bag, I had a wonderful appt. I went on a week day so I had a bridal consultant all to myself for 2.5 hours!! And that’s because I cut them off so I could eat lunch! I think most complaints are because weekends are really busy/packed. Good luck!
