Can anyone make any recommendations? Or tell us about shops that you had a bad experience at? I am just starting to shop for my dress and my bridesmaids dresses!

There seem to be an awful lot of shops in the Mission Valley area, from my google search results.

I'd recommend Chez Bride Moderne in La Jolla! Great group of associates, and you won't feel pressured to buy. I had a great experience there!

Here Comes the Bride and Bridal & Veil are both good shops in the Mission Valley area.

The only one to stay away from would be Bridal and Tuxedo Galleria. They don't let you walk through the store and pick out your dresses, instead they have you pick out the dresses from a book and most of the dresses in the book look nothing like what they have in the store. Also the sales staff is sooo not helpful. So save your self from the horrible experience!

I went to Here Comes the Bride and had a good experience.

I'm not sure where you are in SD, but in North County there is the Flower Hill Mall off Via De La Valle. Bliss Bride just opened up and is a small but sweet shop. The two owners close the store for you and it was so much fun. The dresses are a little higher end, but I had a great experience.

If you want to drive up to OC, I went to Mon Amie and The White Dress. I ultimately found my dress at The White Dress at a trunk show.

Thanks for the suggestions, you have no idea how helpful these are!

duckling- I live in a very central location of San Diego, and I work close by the Flower Hill mall so those are great suggestions for me! I'll probably check out the stores around SD first and head to OC if I can't find anything.

I've only gone to Bridal and Veil in Mission Valley. They were very patient and happy. I must have tried on about 20 dresses on that visit. My cousin actually got her dress there after going back to visit on 5 different occassions within a month! A couple years ago my other cousin had a great experience at Dominque's in Mission Valley. They both have very large selections which I really liked. Good luck!

I got my dress at M Bride in La Jolla. All of the dresses there are absolutely beautiful, and the store has sample sales a few times a year I think. I also went to Here Comes the Bride with one of my girlfriends when she was looking for a dress and it seemed like they had nice dresses there as well :)

Don't let this Happen to you!!

Please, please do not purchase your dress from Bridal Showcase in Vista (North County San Diego) I am writing this review in hopes that what happened to me will not happen to anyone else. I went in looking for a bridesmaid dress in which I was the maid of honor. The salesperson took my full payment , ordered the dress for me and let me know she would call me when it was in. 3 weeks before the wedding I began to call the shop to find out when the dress would be in. I was promised that the dress would be in on time. When it came down to a week before the wedding they said that they would have the dress overnighted from the manufacturer and that never happened. WITH LESS THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE THE WEDDING I NEEDED TO GO DRESS SHOPPING AT THE MALL TO FIND A DRESS!! Worse yet, Bridal Showcase will not provide a refund. There are plenty of reputable, upstanding bridal shops with beautiful merchandise for you to purchase from than to go to Bridal Showcase. I wish I would have looked at the Better Business Bureau website (www.bbb.org) and searched for Bridal Showcase before purchasing there. Bridal Showase received an F rating - the lowest. My intentions are truly that a SD Bride or Bridesmaid does not experience what I have had to go through with Bridal Showcase. Thanks
