City Hall actually does not let you have your ceremony in the rotunda anymore unless you rent the entire place out on a Saturday (the information on their website is old).
Yes, you can use the Mayor's Balcony for pictures (or your ceremony) but note that if the Mayor needs it, you will be kicked out. We ran into that issue when we were planning our ceremony...
Good luck!
If you're just getting married during the week, like a JOP ceremony, you can definitely get married under the rotunda. For free. Or rather, for whatever it costs to get married at city hall - $70-80 I think? And you can take pictures wherever.
SF City Hall is beautiful and as a photographer can easily say pictures are more majestic then any other place. You need to book the place where your are getting married 90 days prior esp if its specifc date like 10/10/10. Also, Fridays are a lil full so a wait is a lil longer.
and if you are looking for a photographer do consider us.
We are getting married at a JP, wish Dallas had a gorgeous city hall like SF! At least the wildflowers will be in bloom and we can take great pics at the park next door!
Update: We recently did a shoot at City Hall and roamed around everywhere to take pictures. I dont think anyone will stop you to go to the cute and secluded places. Will update pictures on our blog soon.

City hall has 3 main places where you can have your ceremony and 2 places are uber cute and secluded but they cost much much more.
Does anyone have any experience with city hall? It's such a pretty place and I want to take pictures in all the pretty places, even the more secluded of areas.
So my question is, can we take pictures all over city hall, including the 4th floor and mayor's balcony, wven if we just have our ceremony in the rotunda?
Thanks!
