Since my wedding is in a beach town, I am going to be using sand dollars from the Christmas Tree Shop as escort cards. I am torn between using a really thin Sharpie marker to write peoples’ names on them, possibly putting the table number on the back of the sand dollar or printing up peoples’ names and table numbers on paper and gluing it to the sand dollar and covering it up with a coral ribbon. There isn’t much space on the sand dollar so that gets me nervous for writing names. Has anyone had any experiences with sand dollars as escort cards. ANY feedback will be appreciated! 🙂 Thanks!

@Sunshinne6: I think I would write them with thin Sharpies in your colors. If you want to do paper you could use return address labels, I bet.

I’d print out the labels and glue/tape them on. You could print the lables and tie them thru the hole in the sand dollar with the ribbon, that way you could even use them as favors.

I think it will be easier to read if you wrote the names on, rather than attaching a separate card. I searched for “sand dollar escort card” in Google Images and the handwritten Sharpie version seems neater and less cluttered.
I think you can buy sand dollars in various sizes. I remember seeing several websites (when I was looking at these things) and they had huge sand dollars and tiny ones.

My cousin did this. We wrote everyone’s name and table number on tags and tied them to the sand dollar through one of the little hole. Good luck!

I like the look of the name being written on it with the Sharpie better

I agree that the marker looks neat but many of the sand dollars I have seen do not include “Mr. and Mrs.” in front of the name so I am still a little worried about space. Thanks everyone! You guys rock!
