Typically you would tip at the end of the week. I would recommend about $10.00 per day for the butler and about $5.00 to $7.00 per day for housekeeping.

DH and I will be leaving for Sandals Royal Bahamian in 43 days! WOOHOO! While Sandals advertises that it has a strict no tipping policy, there are some exceptions. One of them is if you have a personal buttler during your stay, which we do (I actually called Sandals to confirm their tipping policy for buttler suites). You are allowed to tip the buttler. Well, here's the problem...I have no idea what the tipping norm is in this situation. Do you think we tip by day or all at once at the end of the trip (I've heard this is how it's done on cruises)? Also, what is standard for tipping in these cases? I really don't want to come across as cheap and tip too low, but I also don't want to give an astronomical tip (unless ofcourse they deserve an astronomical tip lol).
Another thing is, we can't tip the housekeeping staff, but I called the resort and asked if we can leave them little gifts each day. Sandals said this is fine and the housekeeping staff won't get in trouble for accepting gifts, as long as it's not cash. I've read on other boards some people will leave candy each day, sometimes school supplies if they are staying in a poor country, etc. Any ideas on what I can leave for tokens of appreciation? I'm live in Colorado, which is where the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory was started, so I thought maybe getting some local candy like that would be cute. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
