I think it's a shame. I'm glad they caught the woman who was fraudently claiming to be the aunt of one of the children killed. I hope they throw the book at her!
I am doing a little reading on this since I have only heard bits and pieces and I am appalled at what I am finding. There is entire site dedicated to the Sandy Hook hoax. "It seems unbelievable, because it is," is their tag line. There are videos and articles "proving" it never happened. Awful.
@rosworms: from what I have gathered, there are several people on the internet that do not believe that Sandy Hook happened and that it is all a conspiracy. This website http://www.sandyhookhoax.com/ is one of them. There is also a South Florida professor that has his thoughts out there on the whole thing.
Someone made a comment on the "what people say on Facebook" thread that some of their "friends" post about this. Sick. I'm not surprised some lunatics believe this, but surprised that sane people with friends do.
Hmm. I don't think it's a hoax, but I think it's pretty wise to question things the media tells you actually. I mean, if the government controls the media, then they could hypothetically be feeding us garbage, and as Mark Twain put it- it's easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled.
Not on this subject, but I can think of a few things in the media that I just don't believe, and I think most people only believe it because they've been told to believe it and have never thought to question what the media tells them.
The mainstream media is in the governments pocket, so we probably will ever know the truth about anything. I went and looked at this page and all i can ay is i really hope our government isn't that sick just to try to cram gun control down Americans throats
@mariegerbasi: The only sickness here is in the conspiracy theorists who are spitting in the faces of these poor grieving people by claiming they're faking it.
@Ariadne: Oh i hope it's not true, but look at the facts it is absolutely ridiculous and how convernient it came around when gun control was a huge thing. I have two kids, i'm not a heartless sick person, i just wish we could know the truth about everything. I pray that it was a hoax for the childrens sake. But i dont know the anwser, i dont live there.
When Sandy Hooks shooting happened my heart broke. I went to my towns prayer vigil for the victims. I am a parent of a child about the children's age and I was just overcome with emotion.
Little things didn't add up for me from the start. I didn't question it but thought to myself how weird. How were all the children killed by a rifle but none was found in the school? How could 1 person cause that many casualities in that period of time with pistols with no people with injuries and each person shot multiple times?
Last night I watched this youtube video. It really made me think and honestly I don't know what to think of all of this now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wx9GxXYKx_8
I can't explain the inconsistancies. Why were there RIP and donation pages sent up days before it happened? Why did we not see any footage of over 600 kids being evauated from the school and reunited with their families?
Haven't heard about this until now and haven't done much research but,....
People who would say such a thing are fucking stupid and that's about all I have to say about it. People who believe such ridiculous conspiracy theories are crazy themselves and probably the types of people who would shoot up a school full of children.
there are things to question about the shooting. Some things do not add up. I feel terrible thinking that way but some of the things pointed out do make you really stop and think. Like the footage of them chasing guys in camo gear through the woods that was only aired once and never talked about again, the kids who also stated they had a guy in camo pants on the ground in handcuffs. who was that? and why have we not heard anything about that. Even if just to say "he was someone who didn't belong and this is why he was arrested and here is what we know." there was nothing. IDK, I wouldn't say it was a hoax necessarily but some things don't make sense
I believe the shooting happened, but I also believe the government orchestrated it. Same for 9/11.
i dont know if it was a hoax or not, but i am always questioning the media. I never watch the news because i always feel like the media puts a spin on things.
@MrsWBS: "the types of people who would shoot up a school of children?"
wow... really? just b/c they would choose to question something instead of believing everything the media/government tries to cram down their throat?
Everyone I know who thinks Sandy Hook is a hoax also thinks the same about WWII, concentration camps, 9/11, WW1, Vietnam...
I am pretty sure if this were a hoax, the people of Sandy Hook/Newton, CT woud have come forward. At least I hope they would.
As far as inconsistincies in the stories, yeah that's what happens. Especially in stories like this, all it takes is one person to claim a false report, that gets blasted all over the news, then the truth comes out and - shocker- the stories are diffferent. In addition to that, there may STILL be parts of the story police wish to keep confidential.
As for the conspiracy videos, I think people who want to believe the government is corrupt will believe these videos and stories. Those who have faith in our country will believe the story happened and everything has an explanation.
@red_rose: anyone that believes children were not killed that day is an idiot, I'm sorry. Ask the parents who buried those kids. I know for a fact the principle is dead, so pretty sure yes people were in fact killed.
lol @ the idea of mass media conspiracies. Most journalists I know can't even agree on which bar to hit up after work, let alone keep some gigantic conspiracy a secret.
People are insensitive idiots. That's all I have to say about this. I believe I remember reading that the professor at the heart of his stated because he didn't see pictures of the bodies, it was hard to believe - yes, because what the world REALLY needs are pictures of 20 brutally murdered six-year-olds plastered on the cover of every front page.
@MrsWBS: so... idiot = someone who disagrees with you = someone who would shoot up a school of children? that is rather offensive and narrowminded...
People like conspiracy theories because it makes them feel safe - the idea that everything is orchestrated and planned and controlled, even if it's done by the government, at least that means someone's got things under careful contorl. The opposite, of course, is that senseless murders happen and there's no way to prevent or stop them. It's more frightening to believe in chaos and randomness than someone, anyone having control.
I think there is definitely some information missing, which is strange. Not sure what to think of it.
I don't usually get sucked into this stuff - and I definitely do NOT believe that sandy hook was a hoax. But I don't put it past our current government.
I am still extremely extremely wary about how the Osama Bin Laden death occurred, if it did at all. Since then I've been a little more skeptical about things.
edit: I just went and looked at the website more in depth. Okay...that stuff is really weird...and now freaking me out a little.
What?! This is the first I have heard of any kind of hoax conspiracy surrounding the SH shooting.
@LovelyLaura: I am really anti-conspiracy theory. I maybe feel safer just believing what I'm told even tho that's the not the best way to get through life. Day to day I just don't have time for it.
I watched this video and found a lot of generalizations, assumptions and nonsense. BUT i am really stuck on a few points- the facebook fund pages and memorial pages in particular. They were created a few days before, a day before and the morning of. It just doesn't add up.
I am as far from a conspiracy theorist is there is. I do not like guns...at all. I do not own one. I do not think that anyone should own a semi automatic weapon. I know there are evil people out there. I do not feel comfort in any way if this was orchestrated. And I do not know what scares me more.
I cannot dispute that things do NOT make sense in this story. How can Emily Parker be in a picture with the President after the shooting when she was one of the deceased?
@relaxedabout it: On Facebook, it says the memorial page was created on Dec. 14? or is it a different page? Sorry, haven't watched the video! Maybe I should do that before asking questions...
Guess we should all get out our tinfoil hats huh? Some of these comments are... special.
@relaxedabout it: I did not look into the facebook dedication pages. Even if I do, in the back of my mind I will think they are fabricated to look like they were created before the incident, just to support the Sandy Hook conspiracy story. Same goes with pictures.
Things can be edited, people lie, some gonverment pictures are taken weeks/months before released. Anyway, I have to go out but I feel the need to look into this further when I get home.
I do feel it is important to be informed. Unfortunately, the internet and modern technology makes it difficult to believe ANYTHING we are told 100%.
I thnk we have trouble with the media these days because they release the "information" before anything has been varified. We've seen this time and again. There used to be standards for journalists and sadly that no longer is the case.
I seriously hope the gove wouldn't stoop to something so devious but it would take an awful lot of people to cooperate if it was a hoax. How sad that we can even think this of our government.
@pocketful_of_flowers: I watched the same video this morning and a lot of things just don't add up. The two people that were chased down in the woods and put in the police car. Who are they? The facebook pages. The United Way page. Why was there only 1 STILL picture of kids being evacuated. Why weren't the ambulances allowed down to the school instead of sitting at the top of the drive by the fire house.
I know that it happened. Do I really want to believe that the government wouldn't do such thing just so they can push an issue? Yes. Having said that, I don't really know what to believe. It's terrible.
@Mrs. Fireworks: i also believe it... there are just way too many things that don't add up about 9/11 and the "attack" on the pentagon.
I can't help but feel that it is in fact a hoax. I'm still not convinced the CO shooting wasn't some sort of inside job. I know that it all sounds crazy and so many people don't believe the government would ever put them in harms way and allow anything to get that out of control.
I guess I have a different view on it because of an event that happened in my area- there were 'anarchists' (pathetic bunch, really) who wanted to do some sort of 'attack.' They had a few so called plans (which would have never worked) and the government sent in an FBI informant to gather information on them. They ended up aiding the group by feeding them more ideas and means of accomplishing their plan to blow up a bridge. The FBI didn't arrest them until they actually attempted to execute the plan when the group realized the bombs were all fakes.
Now this group would never have been able to accomplish anything without the FBI informant's help. Their brilliant getaway plan was to throw tacks out the window of the car at any cops that would chase them. (ala coyote style) They also talked about toppling the signs off bank buildings. I worked in a bank at this point and its just not possible.
I guess I take it all with a big grain of salt.
So the whole idea is that people are saying the children were not killed? That it's a lie to what, increase gun control? That's crazy.
I haven't heard anything about this until now and at first reading through the comments I was disgusted that people were calling it a hoax but then I kept reading and thinking about it, why is it so awful to question what the media tells you? I do believe that those children and adults were really killed but I would not be shocked to find out that our government is responsible.
Our world is so messed up today that we have to even question things like this but I think it's even more foolish to just sit back and believe everything we are told.
