Are you still looking? I’m from Santa Cruz and thought about getting married there. I strongly considered the Davenport Roadhouse, but you can also rent the lawn in front of the Lighthouse from the city for the ceremony. That would definitely meet your fiance’s requirements!

@whatapepper:  I haven’t been to a wedding there, but I’ve driven past them before. All of the things you mentioned would definitely be issues, but the payoff would be amazing! I think locals will know what they’re dealing with, and maybe you could arrange a shuttle from the Dream Inn. You could have a rental company set up chairs and a portable PA system. I’m still kind of bummed that I’m not having a SC wedding, but it’d be really inconvenient for almost all of my East and North bay guests.

@whatapepper:  i’m not sure if you’ve settled on the lighthouse as your ceremony space – just thought i would offer some insight as i currently live in santa cruz.  the lighthouse is less than a 5 minute walk from the dream in, it also has a parking lot out front, one large one almost directly across the street, lots of street parking within minutes as well as other lots.  all free.  it is a lovely space, the only thing you might want to consider is that it is quite busy in the summer, so you will have lots of uninvited guests watching.  should make for beautiful pictures though!

Seascape does amazing events and it’s right on the beach.

There are a number of restaurants out on the wharf in Santa Cruz that you might be able to rent out for a ceremony on the water.

Cocoanut Grove is on the beach and they can do ceremonies/receptions.

I’ve had some friends get married out at the lighthouse in the harbor. That was really pretty and literally on the water. Plus you can have a reception right next door at the Crows Nest!

Have you thought about having the ceremony on a boat, like the Chardonnay? That would be AAAAMAZING.

Good luck!

Hollins House and Kenndolyn are beautiful with oean views and not as pricey as the Chaminade and Seascape. My friend Dori is an amazing photography ( sunand lifephotography.com )and knows of a bunch of unique venues. She did one out at Pajaro Dunes that was gorgeous and right on the beach. If you need hair and make up check out Sarahnicole-makeup.com and melissamariehair.com  Good luck and happy wedding planning>
