Hopefully, there will be a crazy amount of BFPs coming so we can get the September 2012 thread rolling! I'm pretty early into September, so I'm pretty sure I'm one of the first ones on here. :) September is my birth month as well, so I'm so excited my LO will be sharing it with me!

    (Copied from previous baby posts)

Date of BFP:  12/24! What a great Christmas gift!

How far along are you?  4w2d

Estimated due date:  September 3 - one day before my birthday!

Date of first prenatal appointment:  January 5 with the midwives. (I'm getting blood work done at my PMD on 12/29 though)

How are you feeling?  I don't have very many symptoms... I've been a bit tired and crampy. I have been super bloated though. My pants already don't close comfortably!

Who have you told? Our immediate family, pretty much. We've been waiting for this baby in our family for a while, and if things weren't to go well with this pregnancy, we'd want the support of our families anyway.

What are you reading/google searching/preparing for?  Maternity clothes, pregnancy symptoms, if cramping is normal, nursery ideas, miscarriage stats, etc. I can't get enough!

Hey Shimmer, I'm from the August board, but just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS! Also, cramping is really normal, I think almost everyone on our board had it to some extent or another... just one of those things you dont really find out about til you're actually pregnant. Anyway, good luck, and I hope you have lots of September mamas joining you soon!

@PandasWifey: Thanks! I feel so crazy right now since I've never been through this before. I might tag along on the August thread until a couple more BFPs come to light! :)

Hello ladies! I am joining this awesome board after sweet shimmerofheaven invite. I love the name, sapphire was my emgagement ring stone and id always wished as a kid that it was my birthstone. I also love me some virgos and now it looks like I may birth one!

    DATE OF BFP: December 26th

HOW FAR ALONG: 4 weeks and 4 days.

DUE DATE: september 2nd according to fertility friend but I feel like its actually a day or two off.

Appointment DATE: just got back from south east Asia and called my doc today to leave a message so we shall see.

HOW ARE YOU FEELING: bloated, sore boobs, constipated, tired, gassy and elated! I am finally starting to believe it!

WHO KNOWS: aside from hubs and I and a few strangers in Thailand it's only my sister and these boards. Sis cried! We call our folks tommorow.

WHAT ARE YOU READING: the everything guide to pregnancy after 35 (even though I am still only 34), pregnancy countdown, what to expect, girlfriends guide to pregnancy.

Sorry it's written a bit awkward but I am a jet lagged insomniac writing from her iPhone! Can't wait to share all of our milestones and pregnancy adventures together. Still can't quite believe it! Xo

I'm so excited to be a part of this with you ladies!

Date of BFP:  12/28 - Totally shocked!!

How far along are you?  3 weeks 5 days (I'm 12 DPO today!)

Estimated due date:  I'm thinking sometime around Sept 6th

Date of first prenatal appointment:  I haven't even called the doctor's office yet. I kind of want to wait until my period is actually missed before I jump the gun, but I have 5 pregnancy tests telling me i'm pregnant. Yes, I really took that many in two days!

How are you feeling?  I feel completely normal. The only weird thing is i've been having extremely vivid dreams for the past week. Usually, I can't remember them at all, so this was strange. I feel slightly crampy. Really tired because I haven't had caffeine in two days :(

Who have you told? Only my husband! We'll keep it under wraps until we go to the doctor and see a heartbeat.

What are you reading/google searching/preparing for?  What to do next! I'm so clueless. I want to pick up the book What to Expect when You're Expecting.

Happy and healthy 9 months to everyone here! Can't wait to see more sapphire mommas!

Congrats to all you September mommy's!  I'm a September, 2011 mommy!  My LO came right on her due date (by unexpected c-section after finding out she was breech).  Everything else was picture perfect!  Happy and healthy pregnancy's to all!

Yay for having 4 September mommies already! :)

    @sarahlyn2626: Sticky baby dust! :)

@Audreysdance: You have such a great story for your honeymoon! We tried for a honeymoon baby in St. Lucia, but my ovulation was thrown off from traveling.

@yellowbird: Yay! Welcome! I'm pretty clueless as well. I've been Googling just about everything that I know about pregnancy, since I'm only the second one of my friends (and first in my family!) to get pregnant. We're all in this together!

Hey sapphire bees. It's 5:27am in NYC and I can't sleep! Am I the only one having preggo insomnia? It might also be jet lag since I just got back from Thailand andCambodia but I just can't seem tosleep more that 5 or 6 hours. Could beexcitement too.

I am just so excited to be here!

Last night DH and I took a test and it's official... we're pregnant :)  It wasn't something that we had planned for this very moment but I am just so happy I literally can't sleep.

    Date of BFP:  12/30

How far along are you?  I'm actually not 100% sure... We BDed on December 12th and I think I Oed December 13th?  We waited to test until I had the 18 days if high temps.  Yeesh.. I'm really early.  I have short cycles but I'm not 100% clear on it all.  Lol maybe this is why we're pregnant.

Estimated due date:  ? Early September?

Date of first prenatal appointment:  I'm calling my doctor after the new years holidays.  Hopefully she can get me in.

How are you feeling?  All in all I feel completely normal.  I have been going to the bathroom a lot and have had some fatigue but that's about it.  More to come?

Who have you told? Only my husband and we plan to keep it that way for awhile.  I don't want to get family's hopes up and we know both sets of parents that once they're told they will tell the world.  God forbid if something happens we don't want to have to explain to a million people.

What are you reading/google searching/preparing for?  I'm waiting for Barnes and Noble to open so I can hurry up and buy some baby books!

@Littlebean912: Congrats!! Glad to see another member of our little group!

I know cramping is normal in early pregnancy, but I can't help being paranoid my period is going to start any moment. These cramps don't really feel like AF cramps. They're really short and just mildly annoying. I thought about taking some tylenol to see if they would go away, but I haven't yet.

I've already taken another pregnancy test this morning! I should probably stop and just believe what they tell me.

I know I just couldn't believe seeing that positive test!  We hadn't really been trying but I just felt like something felt different.  In my heart of hearts I knew I was but just seeing it on the test was wow!  I bought What to Expect and a book that goes week by week of the pregnancy.  Very exciting :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!  What a year 2012 looks like it will be :)

happy new year sweet bees! i hope we all have wonderful pregnancies with sticky happy and healthy babies.

lets run off some deets: my baby is 5 weeks today and the size of an appleseed. i am having MAJOR breast soreness of the beginnings of some mild nausea. everyday i feel more and more pregnant and more and more excited. as i mentioned before my sleep is suffering a little bit and i continue to pee non stop and have bad gas and constipation. i also get flushed and i dont know about you ladies but i swear i have seen my uterus stretch out and notice a total protrusion from that plus bloat.

Boooo to midwives who bill everyone as out of network! I don't get to deliver with the group I like because it'll be too expensive. I have a $7500 deductible for out of network and holy cow I can't afford that! Hopefully my second runner up group will work out. They won't see me until 8 weeks, though... so my appointment is January 24. I can't wait!!

@Audreysdance: I've been having a hard time sleeping as well. I used to sleep through the night, and now I'm up 4 or 5 times. It doesn't help that I have to pee all the time now. I used to have a steel bladder (I'm a nurse that worked 12-13 hour shifts without going!) and now I'm going 4-5 times a day! My little apple/sesame seed is about the same "age" as yours! I'm due September 3rd :) Constipation has been a killer! Plus I have IBS so the bloating SUCKS! I already can't button my pants. Ho hum. And I hear you on the flushed look - I actually run a low-grade fever at night before I go to bed! That's one of the ways I knew to test... normally my temps are 97's to low 98's... it's been 99.4 at night!

@Littlebean912: Welcome! Did you chart? If you use FF, they give an estimated due date based on your O day. I'm sure the other sites do it too, but I could never get into TCOYF's charting.

@yellowbird: I've been pretty crampy too, although it has settled down a bit now. I have been taking the tests like a crazy lady, but it makes me feel better to see how dark the test line is getting! I use the wondofo internet cheapies, so I'm not breaking the bank! :) I'll settle down when I do my blood tests this week.

I've officially missed my period, woohoo! I'm 4 weeks along now. I'm going to try call around and set up an appointment somewhere. I'll have to make an appointment at a completely new place, and I feel kind of overwhelmed doing this. Did anyone else have to? I guess i'll just call a couple and see who can get me in the soonest and that's where i'll end up.

Total TMI, but my cramps have pretty much stopped, but now i have super constipation, ugh. I've been drinking gallons of water but it's not helping.

@yellowbird: Ugh, annoying Android! Anyway, yeah I had to find a whole new practice. I did a lot of Googling for practices around me and for reviews on those practices. Be careful to ensure that the OB/midwives are in-network for your health insurance... one of the practices I fell in love with bills everyone out-of-network and I would have had to pay for the whole thing! If you end up choosing an OB and don't like that particular one, it's your right to switch to another one!

    Good luck!

Hey Sapphire mamas!  I'm so excited to be able to join you with our wedding night baby!

Date of BFP: 01/01 Happy New Year!

How far along are you? 4w1d

Estimated due date: September 9- Very close  to DH's and BIL's birthdays!

Date of first prenatal appointment: We've left a message with our first-choice midwives as they are  unavailable to non-clients during the holidays.

How are you feeling? Exhausted, nauseous, excited!

Who have you told? Just DH and SIL. We have a super cute  way to tell my IL's on my MIL's birthday on January 25th. My mother will be realll difficult though as she and I have a rough relationship.

What are you reading/google searching/preparing for? The midwives directory for my province, all their websites, DH and I talked about finalizing baby furniture in the next month or so as the set we like is on at $250 off until February.

I'm reading the book "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" and getting even more excited.  I figured out that I am five weeks and four days?  I totally have pregnancy brain and it feels like it's all I think about.

I have put in several calls to my doctor but coming off a holiday weekend I don't know what her office hours are.  What is the progression of appointments?  Is the first appointment 8 weeks?  Or is the first one a blood test to confirm?

    Happy new year everyone :)

@shimmerofheaven: Oh thanks for that! I totally forgot that I should check with my insurance first. See how clueless I am? I called a doc this morning and have an appointment set for Jan 24th!

Do you guys have an OB and a midwife? How does that work. I really have no idea what a midwife's role is and if she works in conjunction to an OB? I really need to get some books and read up i'm thinking. The doctor I made an appointment with is an OBGYN. I'm going in at 7 weeks. I'm already taking an OTC prenatal, they didn't really tell me what I should be doing at this point. Is that enough? I kow to avoid certain foods and take a vitamin. That's it!

@FutureJessicaMcB:  Welcome and congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wedding night baby! How amazingly perfect!

@Littlebean912:  My first appointment is at 7 weeks and a couple days. They said they liked it to be between 8-10 weeks but I have a really crazy schedule so they went with the time I was available. I think I get an ultrasound not sure what else will happen.

@FutureJessicaMcB: Welcome and congrats!! How exciting!

@Littlebean912: My midwife group has me coming in at 8 weeks... they said that's standard unless there's a complication like bleeding. They're mailing me two prescriptions for the HCG lab work so I can see if it doubles like it's supposed to. I'll get that done this week some time.

@yellowbird: I'm working with a group of midwives (4 of them, I think) that have 3 OBGYNs as back up. I think the midwife's role depends on the state/country that you're in, but don't quote me on that. In NJ, my midwife group does the entire prenatal care and delivery, barring any complications. If I become a high risk patient at some point or have a problem during labor, they have OBs available.

Personally, I like the philosophy of a midwife. As a nurse myself (and as one who wants to be a midwife someday!) I love that they treat pregnancy as a normal, natural life process instead of a disease process like most of the medical community does. They encourage waterbirths, natural births, having a birth plan, not laboring on your back, being stuck in bed, etc. They put a lot of control into the mama's hands, since they want you to believe in your body's capabilites.

As for what is recommended before your first prenatal visit - I've been taking the prenatal vitamin and extra folic acid and Vitamin D3. Many women are deficient in D3, which is why my MD put me on it in August. Your folic acid intake is critical at this stage of pregnancy since it is a vital nutrient to help prevent neural tube defects. Since our baby's neural tube is already forming, it doesn't hurt to be on a little more. If you want to learn more about it, you can ask to speak to the nurse at your OB's office to see if you should take more.

Haha sorry for the book! I love talking about midwives. :) Hope this helped!

Thanks all, I'm excited to have a group to share this with especially since we aren't telling anyone in our families/friends/jobs yet.

I got a response to my midwife inquiry this afternoon and our first-choice was already full with a substantial wait list for September- Holy cow, when did these women find out they were pregnant, at conception? We put feelers out to the three others in our city so we're  hoping one of them will pan out as we detest the idea of having to go to an OB, hospitals/doctors in our area are a joke.

DH and I wanted to get our bloodwork done today (or at least get a referral) because I'm spotting brownish-pink lightly and have been since New Years Eve and am a bit worried about it, but the Urgent Care told us 6+ hours was the minimum wait time so we got nowhere. Oh well, my tax dollars at work...

So here is how clueless I am about all these baby things!

I called my doctor and told her I had several positive pregnancy tests.  The nurse said I should make an appointment to have a consulation with the doctor and start prenatals.  I told her we had that appointment three months ago and I've been on them since.  And then she tells me that my doctor, although she is a certified OB/ GYN does not deliver babies and I should find an OB from this point on.  I like my doctor and I was so taken aback!  I have soooooo much to learn.  How is everyone else doing in looking for a new doctor/ midwife?

@shimmerofheaven: Midwive's sound amazing!! I live in a pretty small town, and even after some googling I can't really find anything about midwives in this town. It sounds like something that I would love, but if it isn't available I guess I have no choice.

@Littlebean912: I had the same problem! I didn't even realize my doctor restricted her practice to gyn only, until I called the other day. I have never met the OB I made an appointment with, but my only stipulation was that it was a woman. She had good reviews online, so i'm hoping! My appointment is set for when I'm 7 weeks along. They like 8 weeks, but my schedule was filled that week. I guess we both have a lot to learn about what's going on.

I know it probably takes a while, but I don't feel pregnant at all!

Date of BFP - today! Jan 3rd 2012!

How far along - ummm not very! Lol I o'd on the 18th ish I think like 2 weeks and 2 days.

Estimated due date- September 12th. The first calculator went off a 28 day cycle and told me the 9th but I am more of a 31 day cycle and I found a better calculator. How awesome of a bay would that be 9/12/12

First appointment - I will make that today.

How am I feeling- super scared it won't stick. But trying sooo hard not to think about it and just be excited. I am very crampy and that's about it. We were on holidays last week and I bawled going up the mountain on my sled ..... For no reason I wasn't even scared lol. Now I know why!

Who have I told - I told S and that is about it. I don't think we will tell any one else. So we will see.

@FutureJessicaMcB: I have a doctor already. I am from a small town and they only have a couple baby doctors and I saw him last time with my last BFP. So I am just going to stick with him. He is really nice and calming and explains everything thouroghly. Plus he is really cute! Lol all of my friends call him Dr. Sexy!

We get a lot of doctors from over seas and most of them have heavy accents but he is really really easy to understand. I will not go to a doctor that I have a hard time understanding. I had a really bad experience with one once and that was the end of that! Never again,

That sucks you are having such a hard time finding one! Hopefully you find some one good soon!

    @PennyLainne:

The benefits of a small town! I managed to get into a sketchy little walk-in clinic tonight and was referred for an ultrasound  (hopefully Saturday) and bloodwork  (definitely Saturday). So, at least that`s done!

@yellowbird: I would automatically assume that if I had an OBGYN that they would deliver... my beloved GYN was just that, though, so I had to find the group that I'm with now. I'm hoping to get my bloodwork drawn. Lucky you on not feeling pregnant - I'm so bloated, constipated, and have sore boobs. There's no way I wouldn't have figured it out by now!

@PennyLainne: YAY! Congrats! I was off the boards for the day and you get your BFP! Welcome! Will your LO's due date come close to your birthday too? That would be a super awesome birthday present!

I'm 5w3d now, and I'm telling you - I can't remember ANYTHING to save my life right now! It's so frustrating, since I'm usually able to just keep things I need to do in memory. It's driving me crazy! I'm hoping I can get my HCG drawn this week. My primary doc drew an HCG with other lab work he had to do last week and it was 405. I know the number means nothing on its own, so I'm eager to see how it doubles this week!

Anyone else bloated and constipated? I get so uncomfortable that I can't button my pants. I went to a thrift store and got some petite maternity jeans for $7 and I feel SO much better in them!0

I POAS today and the test line is DARKER than the control line! Haha I love seeing that! Makes me feel like my appleseed is doing well.

Shimmer - My approx due date is the 12th and my bday is the 24th. A week and a half appart and I am good with that. I would like to spend my 25th bday being a mommy :)

I have been really bloated and crampy and that is about it so far. Oh and all I want to do is eat all the time! Its bad so I have been trying to make healthy choices. I am usually pretty healthy any way but still. S said to me last night that I better start watching what I eat and that he says he has some say to it. I Laughed and rolled my eyes at him.

@PennyLainne: I hate blood work too :(  I have an appointment next week to have blood work done.  They called it a "confirmation" appointment since by old GYN said to just find an OB.  I think after that I will have an official appointment around 8 weeks.
