I wanted an e-ring that told our story, and I wanted color. Purple/periwinkle are my favorite colors. I really loved color change stones. My husband’s favorite color is green. I knew a lot about sapphires but during our looking for a stone we found out about the purple to green shifters(alexandrite color change) from tanzania. Most of the time my stone is a shade of purple or violet. It does shift to green though as its second most common shift! We also get blue, indigo, and burghundy on occasion. Sometimes even rainbow! This ended up being the perfect stone because the colors represent us both. I love as stated purples and violets, he loves greens, and deep reds. The blues are the traditional thought towards sapphires. My setting was my dream setting. When we were looking my husband asked me what my dream setting was and I said ok after some prodding, but this is very expensive. I told him I will never own this but its ok. He took one look and said no that is the one. He too wanted something different that symbolized us so we had them customize it to my specifications. I have a very special connection with dragonflies since my grandmother’s death, and he had childhood memories of them from his favorite park he went to growing up. He proposed in that park. Whenever I look at my ring I see a symbol that really stands for us which makes the setting, and stone that were things I loved before really mean something amazing and even more beautiful.

I’ve always thought sapphires are beautiful, classy stones.  I have a diamond e-ring, but DH gave me a sapphire ring for an anniversary awhile back that I wear in place of my e-ring sometimes because it’s so pretty.  The center stone is a lab-created blue sapphire flanked by two white sapphires, and honestly had he given it to me before the diamond I might have just went with the sapphire!  Here it is:

I was given a Sapphire & diamond cluster ring. He says its because its a replica of Princess Diana Kate Middleton’s e-ring.

@han182:  I don’t have my ring yet 🙁 But! I will have a peach champagne sapphire. We can’t afford a diamond right now, so we were going to get an Asha stone (because I was trying to save all the money, haha). My jeweler knew I wanted a peach champagne sapphire, so when she went to a gemstone trade show, she brought us one back, and we both fell in love. I was going to still do the asha, but my boyfriend said “no way” and put a downpayment on the sapphire.
