PS. my mom hates the idea of a sash, so I might have my seamstress make it detachable. Then, if my mom flips, I go without for the ceremony and with for the reception.
@itshouldsnow: Thank you. It's a Priscilla of Boston, so there will sadly be no more of this dress. :(
I REAALLY like your dress with a sash.... it's a beautiful dress no matter what, of course, but the sash really gives you waist definition and takes the dress to a whole new level of awesomeness!!! :)
tell your mom it's your dress and you love it and you really want a sash! i'm assuming you got to pick the dress in the first place, so just go with that line of thinking! ;)
for the record, i voted for the satin ribbon with flower.... i think the texture difference will be awesome for photos, and the flower really makes it go well with the dress lace pattern.... :)
When I saw how many options were listed in the poll, I was expecting this to be a tough decision for me. When I looked at the options one stood out FAR above all of the others as THE solution (in my opinion, of course): Option 2b, the ivory satin ribbon with the flower. Here's why.
I love, love, love bling, but the bling you are showing in these pics doesn't really do anything for your gown except to become a smallish, not-so-attractive, darker, focal point that detracts from the beauty of your gown. So the flower wins it hands down for me.
Also, your gown, being lace, has a lot of texture. The satin ribbon provides a very neat, clean contrast to the lace, but, because it's in the same color, it looks beautiful with your gown. On the other hand, the organza sash adds bulk, and because it folds a bit, it also adds unnecessary texture.
So, for me, the only choice -- and I love it! -- is the ivory satin ribbon with the flower. It really looks beautiful!
@Brielle: Thanks for the feedback! I don't really like bling in general and this was the only piece she had on hand, but I thought I'd put it out there in case I was crazy and it looked awesome.
At the alterations place, I thought the organza looked best, but looking at the photos, I am drawn to the satin. Choosing the dress was apparently the easy part!
@anotheroneofmany: I picked the dress, but let me tell you, she had a lot to say through the whole process and thank the lord she and I loved the same dress, because it was getting really miserable for a while there.
I'm don't handle not getting my way well (when I think it's reasonable that I should get my way), but my mom takes that to totally differnt levels. If I wear a sash, I better pack my bags too because I'll be going on a guilt trip!
I love the satin sash with the flower! I think it adds a softness and helps to define your waist. Beautiful dress!
@SaraP2012: Thank you :)
I'm having the same trouble deciding on my dress. On yours, I'm torn between the simple satin sash and the sash with bling (i voted for the bling in the pole thingy, but it was a close call). Your dress is simple, and I really like that (mine is too), so that's why the simple satin sash is appealing. But the bling gives a nice, interesting detail to look at, and it really accentuates your waist.
It's a very pretty dress, so, you know, you have no bad decisions here. You look beautiful!
I'll add (probably unhelpfullly) that on second look I really like the satin with the flower. You are going to look amazing no matter which you choose. I like your idea of having it detachable, then you can have options, and have pictures without it, and with one or more.
@phimegaphi: That's true; detachable will give me more picture options. Thanks :)
Satin with flower.I just love the texture that the flower adds to the overall look.
plain satin or satin with flower. I think that it makes your waist look tiny!

I had my second fitting today, and my big question is whether I should add a sash. And then, if I get a sash, do I go plain or with an embellishment.
These are mockups so obviously they aren't perfect. For example, the gathering of the organza would look nicer and the sash would lay flatter, and likewise the gathering on the satin if I got the bling would be better.
I'm also concerned that with the shoes I have on the dress is too short, so comments on that would be appreciated. I will be wearing no shoes for ceremony, so this matters for the reception only.
