If your dress (or any you have pictures of), have a red or champagne coloured sash please post them!!
When I went dress shopping I fell in love with my dress. Then I tried on another one that had a red sash with it and my mom fell in love with that one. I hated how that dress looked on me and knew it wasn’t for me (seriously could not get it off fast enough!) and went back to the other one. My mom didn’t like that one so the consultant put the red sash on the other dress and my mom decided she liked my dress, but ONLY with the red sash. When I went to pick up my dress she hated it until I put the sash on and she was pretty open about how she feels.
Now I’m not so sure about the sash. I’m finding it hard to coordinate my fiance’s outfit with it because it’s so bright and I think if we matched it would just not be the kind of look I want. I originally thought I would go back and get a black sash but my brother’s fiance just bought her dress and it has a black one and I just don’t feel right about that, so then I thought I will go with a neutral one like champagne (it would match the beading on my dress), or even none at all.
The problem is my mom – she’s SO stuck on that red sash and she’s taking it as a personal insult that I don’t want it. Yes, she paid for it (my dress was their gift to me) but it was $18!!! We’re not exactly breaking the bank and I have no issues giving her $20 if she is going to be a baby about this. I asked her if a champagne coloured one would make her happy (it would match the beading on my dress) and she said “no, I want red”. She’s acting like a spoiled 2 year old. I said I’m leaning towards either no sash or a champagne one for the ceremony and then wearing the red one for the reception.
I’m 29, I’ve been totally independent from my parents for 10+ years, I really don’t care what people think of me and I am pretty confident in myself.. it’s not like I would wear it just to make her (or anyone else) happy.. but seriously, why is so caught up on a damn $18 piece of fabric?!
Sorry, I had to vent, and as always the Bee is the place that understands the most!
