Mrs_Purple:  I’ve never heard of chair hoods. Are you referring to chair covers?

Mrs_Purple:  I think it’s a UK term. All of the references are from the UK.

To be honest, i wouldn’t use either one, nor would I use the chair covers. Chair covers are not used for any social event other than weddings. Even the most formal of banquets do not use chair covers.

I think you end up with a sea of white that overwhelms your  color scheme.

If you must use one or the other, I think it’s a matter of personal choice. I have never heard of anyone having a problem with the sash falling down. If you are worried about that, it would be easy enough to pin it to the chair cover in the center back hidden by the knot or bow.

Mrs_Purple:  My daughter had ivory, stretchable covers, for her reception (photo attached). She did not like the chairs provided, but they were much more comfortable than chiavari’s, so we rented covers. Chairs are either under the tables, or sat on, and the covers blended seamlessly, with the linens. Everyone complemented us, on the décor. P.S. We now own the rights to the photos.
