Oh bees. I think I’m starting to seriously regret choosing a satin dress for my outdoor Summer wedding! Why oh why didn’t I choose something lighter and flowier??
I love my dress but I think I’m going to be so hot and sweaty in it that I’m going to be hot and bothered.
Did anyone else wear a satin dress for their summer wedding? And how did you manage??

Are you going to be outdoors? If you’re inside for most of it, it will be airconditioned, so you’ll be fine. Plus, most dresses are hot, unless you get a deliberately light and flowy dress. I dont think the satin would make that much of a difference.

Uhhh….I just read this post and it’s making me freak out a little. I have a satin dress and I’m having an outdoor summer ceremony! I never really thought about it before….

this was my dress.
it was fine for the little 80 degree outside photos… i was dying at the reception because the aircondition did not feel like it was on when you stuff 150 people in a room dancing around eatting drinking… by 10 pm i had enough of the long train dress so i switched into my short rehearsal dress again.

the heat is definetely one reason I’m a bit fan of hoop skirts. It helps keep the layers of fabric off you legs and keeps you cooler. I’m so glad we got my sister one when she got married last summer, it really helped.

Yes and I was perfectly fine. My dress was huge, heavy and satin and I never really felt overwhelming hot. My ceremony was outdoors and it was about mid-80’s all day.

It depends on the humidity too girlies! But I’m sticking with organza’s and light fabrics like that when I try on next week! I love the flowy material anyways!

@Treejewel19: Your train is STUNNING!!! What a great pic, too!
@Sunshine09: Do you know if your gown is silk satin or polyester/synthetic satin? Natural fibers breathe much better than do synthetic ones. I was married outdoors in silk taffeta in May, but it was 96 degrees that day. I was fine.
