I bought my ribbon on eBay, and it was really cheap. How about this?
It's more than you need, but still inexpensive. Though it's just under 1/2". Most ribbon comes in 3/8", 5/8", or 7/8"
I got my satin ribbon from www.jkmribbon.com. the prices were pretty cheap and had bulk spools, however it took them about 2 weeks to ship out my order. thank goodness i wasn't in a rush.
I got my ribbon by going to a physical ribbon store. The website is http://www.berwickindustries.com/about/index.cfm?fuseaction=ViewOutlet
I went to the Hagerstown location, but they have a Berwick PA location I'm assuming it would be comparable (I have no idea where that is in relation to Philly). Anyways it was awesome and definitely worth my hour drive. The ribbon was cheap and the spools they were selling were larger than you can find in Michaels. They had satin ribbon organized by color, so you could definitely find something with the size color you need. It was 20 cents for the little spools Michael sells for .99 and they had bigger spools that had soo much ribbon on them.
One of the best finds - bridesmaids ivory sashes for $1 each - not sure what I'm going to do with them yet but I couldn't pass it up. Also a raffle ticket size roll of ribbon for $1 (not satin more gift wrappy like).
Anyways you should check it out if its near you.
I second using Ebay (and I was pretty much a novice before I started planning our wedding). I bought ribbon for my favors, ceremony aisle decorations, and invitations from three different vendors, all at fantastic prices that even online stores with wholesale pricing couldn't match. There is a lot to wade through, but at least that means there's plenty to choose from.
Don't hesitate to ask vendors questions about it, though, like whether the ribbon is soft or papery, single or double faced, etc. Most of the people I've bought from have been really good about responding. The hardest thing is color, since it is difficult to know what a color really is offline. If you know what kind/brand/color of ribbon you want, you can search specifically for that and know what you're getting.
I also had a good experience with JKM ribbon! Great selection and prices!
Also check out www.papermart.com. They have a pretty good selection of single- and double-faced satin ribbons of high quality.
I got mine at papermart.com, but moss green is probably a really specific color. I found this place with a bunch:
http://www.theribbonretreatwholesale.com/AddCartWizard/Ribbon/Default.aspx?ProductId=934&Count=1
The minimum order is $35.00 though, but they have several shades of green (including one called Moss). Maybe you can use it for favors or something too?

I am doing DIY invitations. I need moss green satin ribbon to tie my resonse card in. I think that I want it to be approximately 1/2" in width. Does anyone know of a place to get affordable satin ribbon since I will probably be ordering about 75 yards? I am located in the Philadelphia area but I think that I would probably be able to find the best price online.
Thanks for your help!
