Hi bees, just wondering what fabric you have choosen for your wedding dress, Satin or Taffeta??
I never in a million yrs thought I would be wearing Satin. I totally saw myself in a light fabric, delicate yet elegant - something that flowed with the wind.....I am wearing the exact opposite, haahaahaa Go Figure!!!!!
mine is alencon lace...and it is my first choice...but second would be satin.
Mine is satin - I didn't expect to be as picky about fabric as I was...I was not really a taffeta fan, and satin was the only one that felt right.
I'm allergic to silk, so I was thrilled that the dress I bought came in taffeta.
I've always envisioned myself in a lace or chiffon gown. Alas, my ceremony dress is soft organza with taffeta underlays. My reception is all lace but the train is layered chiffon and charmeuse silk. :) I am not a big fan of satin but I like taffeta :)
Taffeta feels so nice! & It's much lighter, so it will be nice in August!
My dress is made in taffeta. I paid more money to have it changed to satin. I can't stand the crinkle noises and shininess.

I loved the taffeta of my dress for it's sturdiness, yet lightness. My second choice gown was chiffon, and that is glorious fabric too!
My dress is lace and tulle. I felt that satin was too clingy and the taffeta gowns I tried were too stiff.
i hate taffeta with a passion. i wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. i'm sure it's fine for other people but i really dislike it.
I was stuck on fabrics for a very long time but the dress I fell in love with only came in taffeta so I had to go with it, plus I dnt think it would have had the same effect if it were any other material.
Thats not anyone I know in the pic. It is just one I found of a bride with the same dress

I adored duchess satin and ended up with silky taffeta and really am not in love with it but I got it for a great price and well for 300 who gives a hoot (casablanca 1831)
@crebre - I love your dress and think it look phenomenal on you!
Mine is silk satin. My seamstress actually commented that she was really impressed by the quality of the material, yay! :)
Mine is embroidered tulle, but not the poofy kind (pic below). If given a choice between satin and taffeta, I'd go with satin.
Satin. My dress is a light weight satin and it's not heavy at all and I love it. I don't like how taffeta is so shiny in pics and it also makes that loud swishy sound when you move or walk.
Initially I wanted chiffon for the floating on air look/feel but it looks horrible on me. Lace is pretty too but didn't find a dress I liked.
I HATE Taffeta!!! I don't want to swish down the aisle! But thats totally a personal thing however my gown is Shauntung silk and I love it!
Mine is Silk Duponi, a great fabric for the summer.
@Tomsbride - I love your dress!!! I'm not normally a fan of taffeta but it fits you so perfectly and shows off your hourglass figure.
Satin. I like tafetta and it's a lighter fabric but sometimes it looks strange in sunlight so I went with the satin instead.
Chiffon and Tulle. But mine is a beach wedding, so I needed something light and airy. I like taffeta better than satin, but that's just me.
